Tired of my Paper Weight

Recommended Posts

I can't remember the last time I was this frustrated. I have a MH-871 and I haven't cut a thing but the demo diamond. I started off trying to use Vista with a USB connection and gave up on that. Then I went and purchased a dedicated business desktop with XP, with serial cable connection so that I don't run into the same USB issue and loaded the software and still nothing. I thought I was reading what I have correctly but apparently being educated does nothing for the set up of a cutter!

I don't know where to turn and what to do. I am ready to put it back on ebay and just wait until I can afford a more expensive cutter that doesn't appear to be so complicated.

Am I wrong to feel this way?

I am open to any suggestions or assistance anyone has, but I am tired of beating my head up against the wall.

I have windows XP and SignBlazer that came with the machine. Clearly I'm not setting something right..... I don't know what to do.

It sounds like it is probably just a port setting or something simple like that. I don't personally know signblazer but im sure that someone here will chime in and help you out.

First of all Welcome. If you go to the thread for your software and or cutter I am sure the people that have the same equipment will be able to get you up and running. Best of luck.

Try getting ahold of Brandon at US Cutter.

He can probably walk you through the process.

Don't worry too much.  It took me nearly a week when I got my LP24.

Also, there is a thread on the forum that has a "newbie manual".  It takes you step by step through the setup process and it's very accurate.

In your SB settings, it should be set to com1 with serial. You can go into your XP device manager and see what port it has assigned to it.

The baud rate should match the one on the machine. I don't know about the 871 but the 721 goes back to default on the baud rate every time you turn it off and back on.

Flow control should be set to HARDWARE.

Of course, make sure you have the correct model chosen so the drivers are right.

That's about it.

you all have been so great and supportive, but alas, I have yet to get it to cut anything other than the test diamond. Its just not communicating.

So frustrating, I am not available at my cutter during the business hours of tech support. I went to the newbie page and found a step by step mini manual and it didn't help.

I will have to keep trying. I really don't want to give it up. I have made so many promises to folks and I am failing them.  :'(

how about posting a list of your settings...or better yet a screen shot of the settings box while open?

I had similar issues with mine, nothing seemed to work. I was trying to use a seiki version of flexistarter. I called and Brandon remotely connected to my PC. Then he installed signblazer for me and actually cut on my machine. All I had to do was turn everything on and type in the serial number. He was 3/4 of the way done before he even found out I had just purchased the machine from them.
