sprint99 0 Posted March 4, 2009 After a year of research, lurking, comparing, saving, learning, asking, and waiting for the right moment- I finally took the leap and purchased my first cutter. I am the proud owner of a Pcut w/ of course the SignBlazer software. Took my first night of ownership to setup the equipment, read included papers, and to get familiar with the cutter and software. I will get started on reading the guide on the cd tommorow and then begin to really try this thing out. I however, did a "test run" tonight to check everything out and see if my blade install abilities were up to par- and all worked and cut well. I now have my first vinyl cut item, a 3" black circle. I'll appreciate all the fine knowledge I've already read on this forum. There are plenty of mature professional people on here to make one feel welcome and to gain knowledge on this exciting trade, and hobby for some. Let me quickly tell You that my reasoning to purchase this machine is for personal use, primarily to do lettering, logos and various graphics for our kart racing endeavours- however I will take all your input and valued professional skills into account while I learn this. Thanks for the great forum of both USCutter workers, the moderators and the vast amount of members whom make this a place to teach, learn, and share. I won't let You down. A big hello and smile from S.E. Wisconsin. Jeff

sprint99 0 Posted March 5, 2009 I'll probably start off with basic stuff at first and then progress as I learn the software and cutter more. Race wise- we run a few local series up here in Wisconsin and do a little traveling Nationaly- we just ran at Daytona (yup, that Daytona ) in December. I had meetings lastnight, so tonight will be the first big night getting to sit down and start learning. Very excited! A pic from last year: The number "9"'s are layered red with silver outline and are our primary number for all our karts. So the cutter will be doing a bunch of those. lol Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Alien 11 Posted March 7, 2009 Hey Sprint about how long does a set of numbers n decals last in kart racing?
sprint99 0 Posted March 8, 2009 I replace anything that gets scraped, marked by contact, or cut by virtue of contact. I'm a little drastic on keeping things looking good- and probably only one of a few that dare to run white bodywork. We probably go through two to three sets a year. My son, who races in a division of 5-7 year olds will probably go through a few this year as well. When we run national races, sometimes I have to run a different number, so that means even another set of numbers. When we raced at Daytona my number was 103. So off came the 9's and we had to scrounge up someplace/somebody for four 1's, 0's and 3's.

Alien 11 Posted March 9, 2009 In that case I was thinking correctly. I was wondering if ink jet printing on vinyl would hold up long enough. Sounds like they would get replaced before fading anyway. Opens up a lot of possibles 4 me. I'll be talking to him again tomorrow. THX
sprint99 0 Posted March 9, 2009 The printed style graphics are getting very popular. Most companies producing them are using a thicker material which stands up to the abuse better. An example:
