dgrimm 0 Posted February 12, 2009 Isn't there a tool to draw geometric shapes? i know there's one for circles, but i don't think there's one for octagons!! :) I guess you don't have Flexi Pro,huh? actually i'm using gerber's latest omega composer 3.0 because i'm an actual sign professional...i also various versions of corel draw and a version of adobe illustrator......although i'm not a big fan adobe...it just doesn't work for me...i'm also familiar with the open source program inkscape....and i did use CADlink's signlab for a couple years...also a very strong program!!! ALL of which have a shape tool that can draw an octagon....and even if they didn't i could draw one BY HAND!!! the industry standard is widely considered to be Flexi Pro. I don't know 2 people who use omega. And I am an actual sign professional. I have corel and AI, gathering dust on my hard drive. Flexi does it all,no need for anything else. how can you possibly think that? i'm baffled.....i actually don't know how to respond to that.....apparently you don't know many PROFESSIONALS!! I have bought out supplies from 2 local (long time) sign companies myself,after they went out of business. If you want to offer help...do so. In a nice way,with no smart remarks or digs at newbees. If you can't offer help,do as most of us so,and just don;t respond. my time to design a layout is worth money, and i will charge accordingly....i charge a 70% markup on all materials....and have done so for as long as i'm in the industry.....i'll take any job, but i have a shop minimum....even if the customer only needs three two inch letters cut....it's still takes me time to set the typestyle, load the plotter, cut the vinyl, weed the vinyl and tape it up.... Probably $1000 of business in the last 6 months...he changed his phone number and need a new number on white vinyl to put over hisn old number. I don't known how long it takes you to do things,but for me,start to finish, was about 5 minutes. And this is 4 weeks after heart surgery,not being able to move very fast. A member has to be EXTREMELY rude, nasty & generally all around ill-mannered to get banned in this forum . I don't think they should be banned , IF possible make it so they get on a list that can only post in a specific section .. let's say " I don't have manners because Mom didn't even know how to say Manners , let alone spell it " LOL . IF I was in charge , I would have a section like that & give rude members a time-out starting with a day & progressively more time . I would have several members doing repeat performances ( want to guess who I'm thinking of ? ) That way instead of banned members , when bored ...
