721 sloppy corners

Recommended Posts

I just started using my new 721 and I haven't been able to get high quality cuts from it.

I have the offset at .025"

I've checked that the wheels are in the track

I'm using all 3 rollers, spanning a 15" roll of vinyl

I've blown into the blade holder and lubricated it so the blade rotates freely

I've turned the cut speed all the way down to 4in/sec

I''ve used a variety of files to test, as well as typing right into Flexi

I'm not sure what the issue is.

Here are some photos (my camera doesn't have a macro setting, sorry):

I'm using:

1 week old 721, serial connection, Flexi, XP and oracal 651

The blade offset should be .01.  That's the Roland recommendation and the 721 uses Roland blades.  Looks like an offset issue to me.

Can someone explain this issue in a little more depth?  Is the offset something that needs to be accomidated in the design or simple through hardward settings?  I assume that the offset is in relation to the blade and it's point not being at the true center of the rod is is at the end of?

Thanks in advance for the information.

The offset is usually set in the Software that is being used. SignCut has an offset feature, and Flexi does as well.
