There is a manual called " newbie manual " ( to the best of my memory ) . It was made by member Paco . Search for that . It explains com port settings etc , which need to be set . Even with a serial cable you need to set the com port settings in the software along with a few others .

Blade offset is the distance from the center of the blade to where the vinyl hits on the cutting edge of the blade ( think of the blade as a drill bit ) . If you need to put a negative # in , something else is wrong . PLENTY to read about it if a search is done . Some things to check or read up on if not understood = offset only set in software or on cutter ( the total offset in both is what is done , I only use 1 to set the offset & zero the other out ) .... if on a usb , correct driver ... overcut adjusted .

HeHe , ( Dan called it that ) I know the mountains of WV are not near as big as many states have ... guess since it almost completely on mountains , that name stuck ??

Dan , I was talking to a local friend in Weston 1 day while looking around .. he said " you know Rodger , West Virginia would be as big as Texas if they flattened it out " ...

I have been impressed with USC also . Setting up this forum is great for the customers & USC also . This forum has been the best forum I have ever read ( even those who previously verbally trashed it , comes back because nothing else compares ) . It is kept civil by our leader " BannerJohn " . John has continued Ken Imes demeanor & keeps thing nice & real . Atta boy John !! Many great members who donate alot of help . Welcome , you will fit right in

Or just get an old windows pc to dedicate to the cutter .

NOPE !! Nothing has ever stopped me completely . broken bones , triple-by-pass has slowed me down at times , but I don't stop . I'll do that when I take a dirt nap . I went to work the day after getting out of the hospital after getting my " zipper " . You ever try a wheelchair with your leg straight out ? I have to be doing something , even if just surfin the web .

There is not any setting that does that . Depnding on the radius of the circle , you can minimize the effect on the bottom .

Trouble cutting/weeding glitter heat transfer vinyl
Rodger replied to Dgaree's topic in General Help
Adjust the blade like any other vinyl & test cut until right . A glass top table with a light underneath helps weeding . You are putting the clear side down ? You dont cut the clear part . Leave it whatever length the decal is & press . -
Does the disc have tutorials on it ? I have the SCAL 3 disc & it has many tutorials on it .

If you mean you are not seeing anything in SignBlazer ( importing from InkScape ) .., it does not reconize newer EPS files . Make what you want in SignBlazer . SCALPro has a free trial . It is a design & cut software also .

33 Banners to make, need help pricing.

I hope it works out well for you -
Myself ,.. I don't hold people to stuff like that . IF it was a mistake, whoever made it would be in hot water & possibly reflect on being employed . I never want anybody doing business with me to loose money . I like to be fair in everything coming my way & going out .

Sadly , the ethics that many have are not honorable , like your's Dan . In the long run , good ethics pay off , but many cash in , short term with bad ethics .

It is the decal in the back window of the tow truck that is pulling that FORD in..... . I used to argue Ford vs Chevy .. but now even have an Intertrashional . Favorite pick-up truck I have is the 97 Dodge with the Cummins in it . Truck is junk , but that engine carries it

33 Banners to make, need help pricing.
Rodger replied to motoxchic's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
The time frame is a major determination . I have seen $1.50 per square foot for banners on e-bay . $1 in the back of Sign Magazines . You may be able to make as much or more $ by outsourcing the job in cut or printed vinyl & be cheaper than what you are charging to do it yourself . I would get the job & do it with your cutter , buy the Graphtec with the profit , not the " potential " profit . -
I don't belive that there are many perverts or stalkers on this forum . Dan Hilarious Dan . I agree on the not many part , but there are some . I have put some on my ignore list because they became obsessed with me .

What is the rating for printed stuff ? Oracal 651 is 7 years outdoor life from memory . I have read laminating printed stuff is vital for lifespan .. make sure you include that is you go the printed way . When you price things , try to determine if the customer is an e-bay shopper ... check prices there if you want to see what competition does ( cut & printed vinyl ) !!! -
Obvious mistake . If I put myself in their situation , i would do the same thing . Hard enough to stay in business , let alone owning up to a online pricing mistake . I wonder who would own up & sell a zillion deals like that ?? NOT me

Disappointing Easy Weed Facts and Customer service leading to poor view of US Cutter
Rodger replied to robodude's topic in Criticism and Complaints about USCutter
You might not hear an official USC response on this forum . This is supplied by USC for new customers to learn . You will get better results making a ticket or calling USC again . Peace back to you brother ... now as far as the chiming in . My favorite place is USC . I don't buy a ton of stuff , but they are at the top of my list . You do know that they don't make anything ?? they resell many products that can not be bought direct from the factory ... like what you are talking about . So you will be buying whatever gets shipped from the manufacturer no matter who you buy from . BIGGEST mistake I think you made is not to test cut . My Copam has a test cut button on the front & bet your cutter does also ?? When changing rolls of any type of vinyl ( even same manufacturer ) , I do that for proper cutting a.k.a. blade exposure/sharpness . Most of the time , the little square/circle does not bother the decal & no waste at all when I reset the vinyl ( I AM cheap !!! ) . I ESPECIALLY do a test cut to make sure it is cutting " just right " when switching to reflective , specialty & heat transfer vinyl . When i do 4-get to test cut & I have trouble weeding , it is a longer time b-4 I forget to again . -
Extremely Disappointed

I have been in the same boat Dan . I want to blame others , but know the bottom line was that it was my fault/responsibility -
Extremely Disappointed
Rodger replied to Indiana Painter's topic in Criticism and Complaints about USCutter
That is how I took it initially Skeet , reread it & he sent the 1rst cutter back & then the carraige was supposed to be the problem on the replacement cutter ... It would be nice to find out what was wrong on the 1rst cutter & what resolves the 2nd cutter . -
Extremely Disappointed
Rodger replied to Indiana Painter's topic in Criticism and Complaints about USCutter
I would have been disappointed also . I however bought 2 cutters way before taking my 1rst job . I haved learned that if counting on things going good , sometimes " Murphy's Law " enters into the situation . The most hilarious part of " Murphy's Law " is when it starts out " Murphy was an Optimist " . The right thing would to be prepared in the 1rst place so things out of your control won't mess your plans up . You could have controllled that part . -
HeHe , I have ridden & raced motorcycles all my life . It is the " Biker " attitude that puts many off . All that started with the Billy Jack movies that came out in the early 60's ( NOT role models at all , but many have copied it ) . A motorcycle club itself is not much of a turn off to most people .
