  1. Go for it if it's a good price, just make sure to get some test cuts, preferably one of your own designs.  That way you will know it will do exactly what you need.

I typically limit my smallest text cuts to 1/3 of an inch on large orders.  The Graphtec will cut much smaller, but, weeding out the insides of letters on anything smaller isn't worth my time.

My Graphtec CE6000 works great with my mac.  I use Adobe Illustrator CC and the Graphtec Cutting Master 3 plug-in.

  2. Hey guys. Thanks for the reply's. Always value your advice. Only thing on printer is that I'm not planning on T-shirts w/ sublimation now so didn't think of anything else that would justify the bigger printer at this point. But wanted to ask in case there was a big seller that would need to be used with the bigger printer.

If you want to do license plates make sure the printer you choose can support 8.5" x 14" paper.  I imagine most would, but it is something to consider.

  3. Is there not a reliable auto backup utility for Windows.  My Mac has time machine built in and it constantly does automatic backups all through out the day.

I also manually backup to a portable drive every month or so in case i loose my main backup, that way i would not loose all of my files.

  4. I use Rapid Tac for cast, and Rapid Tac 2 for calendered vinyl  and or cast in cold weather.  I also had some splash application fluid but didn't have great luck with it.  I do intend to try it again as i still have some concentrate of it.

I wish USCutter would sell Rapid Tac products, guess i will send another email asking for it.

  5. If you get another external backup to use along with your online service i would look for an external drive with at least 2 HDD's in a RAID 1 configuration.  That way if 1 drive dies, at least you have an exact duplicate on site.

  6. You are prefeeding your vinyl right?  Don't let the cutter pull from the roll, instead, roll enough vinyl out for your design and then a little bit extra and let it hang between the vinyl roll and back of the cutter.  Pulling from the roll could eventually damage your cutter.

You do also have your grit rollers locked down over the locations marked on the machine also right?

  7. there are some who will say that a longer USB will affect performance. I've been using 15 foot USB for years.

The one that comes with the cutter I think is 5 feet but I could be wrong. Certainly not long enough for you.

I could see having problems with the cutters equipped with the cheap emulation chips.  My CE6000-60 came with a 10ft usb cable, and the 16' has worked great as far as i can tell.

I did start having issues a few days ago with the Graphtec loosing pressure as it cuts.  Cutting strip was good, blades and blade holder good, cutter resets did not fix issue.  I didn't think about the longer cable possibly being the problem...  Thanks for reminding me, if it happens again i will definitely check that off the troubleshooting list next time.

I had to break down and borrow a Windows laptop to update my cutters firmware and that seemed to fix the issue.

Windows 8.... that was an entirely different can of worms....

  8. I'm just starting to work for a friend cutting vinyl, and have a Titan 2 on the way. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long the USB cable that's included is. My workspace limits my setup options, and I might need a cable as long as 13-15 feet, depending on how the Titan sets up.

I can not speak for the titan but this cable has worked great with my Graphtec.  It's 16'.  Its a good deal if you have Amazon Prime.
