    cheap entry level presses

I know this is a bit off, but last week I went up to a local ice rink to drop off decals for a hockey team from Canada, during a tournament. And there were a couple guys up there selling t-shirts with the tournament logo screen printed on the front and they were offering custom lettering on the back. They were using a MH series cutter and a cheap t-shirt press (I didn't see the name). Point is, they were using bottom of the barrel equipment and if I had to guess, I would say they walked out of there with no less than 7k. I say start with what will give you the best value for what you can pay, and upgrade when it's necessary and possible. My 2 cents.
  3. I would love to see what some of you have done with your own vehicles. I'm getting ready to letter mine this weekend, and I'm set with my back window, just not sure if I want to put vinyl on the side of my car or not. I'm sure some of you have full wraps, so don't be shy! Show it off!!

Where to get the most popular art

I go a bit unorthodox. I walk into local stores and gas stations and offer them a cut if they sell my decals. It's basically free money for them, cause I don't say, "Buy these and see if they sell." I take all the risk and they take their cut, everyone's happy. It won't make me rich, but a little extra money here and there never hurt, and it helps me fund purchases of more supplies until I can get my name out there and pick up other types of business.

Yeah. I'm not worried about vinyl on paint. If I had the cash, I'd wrap my whole car. What's the best way to cut a graphic that follows body contours? I've seen some people use that knifeless tape, but what if you want to cut designs in the vinyl before you apply it to the vehicle and have it follow the body contours?

    Best application Tape

^^^I tried a combination of clear tape with paper tape. The problem I had with that is the paper tape (at least the tape I used) curled up and I ended up with a wrinkled mess. Maybe it was the tape I was using.

    Best application Tape

Hey jaybird, do you use this tape for multi-color decals? I'm getting ready to order more app tape and I see benefits in both clear and paper tapes, but just starting out, don't want to stock two different types of tape in multiple sizes if I can get away with it. Thanks

    Um...Help?

I want to cut this in one color, but am not sure what the best way to do that would be. Looks like a it's going to be hell to weed. Thanks in advance. logo.eps

    Um...Help?

^^^That looks amazing! Especially for it being one color. I just assumed it would be unrecognizable in one or two colors. Thanks!!
  11. I know USCutter offers credit for large purchases, but it would be great if we had access to a line of credit under $500 for purchasing supplies. Understanding that there are customers in all stages of their business. My local guys want years in business and other stipulations that a new start up just doesn't have.

  14. So I ordered a roll of vinyl on Wednesday. Two days goes by and never get a shipping email. So I call this morning to inquire. I'm told "its on it's way to me." Thinking it'll be here today and the shipping e-mail was never sent. Now I get the email and it's just now being shipped. Is it just me but shoudn't they eat the cost and overnight it to me? Now I have to wait till Monday or Tuesday for something I needed today.

    shipping snafu

It'll be Tuesday before it will be here, should have been here last Friday. I understand the cost of shipping, but I'm the one who had to explain to the customer that I wouldn't have the job done because my supplier messed up. I know I should find a local guy for stuff like this, but being a brand new business with no credit and not having a lot of funds to play with, I can only afford to buy things once. Someday that'll change...Hopefully.

    Um...Help?

I don't think it's going to turn out very good all one color. Can anyone name this font?
  19. Jaybird, that looks absolutely awesome! Make sure and get a pic after they paint.

    New to vinyl

I bought a starter kit and got the same advice. The problem is, if you try and build the identical kit, minus the vinyl, you'll pay more. And I've gone through a ton of vinyl that was wasted while learning. So I use the crazy, no one really wants colors, to practice on. And the mostly used the others for family freebies. I bought this kit on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/34-Vinyl-Cutter-BUNDLE-Sign-Cutting-Plotter-w-Sure-Cuts-A-Lot-Pro-Design-Cut-/281010926495?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416d8e739f and even with the shipping cost, I still saved money and hit the ground running. And I use everything they gave me. I would buy again.

    hand drawn

Why do they always make the critter we are going to eat look so happy? I love pulled pork, but maybe if the pig were grabbing his crotch saying "Eat Me!" or looked a little sadder. Like this turkey... Now that's sad.

    two color letter

I just got my cutter today and I've cut a few things and all seems ok. Now I'm trying to do a window decal for my car but here is what I'm trying to figure out... If I type the letter "K" and want to make the vertical line of the letter a different color from the rest of the letter how do you do that? I've been messing with the nodes to try and separate the vertical from the rest to make the "K" two different parts but I'm lost. Thanks
  23. Ok, so I'm working on my website, which is just informational at this time. I am wanting a page with installation instructions that I can send people to who purchase from me. I could just snag something off the net, but I figure everyone here is so generous, perhaps someone has something already put together I could use. If could just get permission and a link, that would be great! Here's the link to my site: www.creationsinvinyl.com Looking for feedback. I'm still building content and verbage. Just looking for cosmetic feedback. BTW...I don't know what anyone else's knowledge is, but this in 100% my work and if anyone needs any help with their sites, I'd be glad to help. Thanks!

    Two layers on a sign

Question time...I am getting ready to do a sign, it's all letters in "white" except for one letter in the name which is "red". My question is, what's the best way to achieve this? The sign will be 17" x 12". Do I have to waste a 17 x 12 piece of red to get the one letter that will be 2 x 4 (roughly) to align properly with registration marks? Or is there another way that will allow me to cut one letter and line it up perfectly without wasting all that extra vinyl? Thanks in advance
  25. ^^^ MH uses a different blade holder. COD is using the SC which is the same cutter I have.
