    My First Van

John, Thanks for a great video. I am about to re-letter my own work van for the new sign biz and have been doing everything primarily dry. It is TOO COLD to attempt that and will use your technique to make this work. Also great info on the use of mid tack for wet install. Always use high tack for everything and it is a pain. Lots of excellent info - I learned alot!
  2. I have discovered YESTERDAY that my laserpoint 24 has suddenly become very unreliable. After three flawless months with this cutter, I am now experiencing a very difficult time in that it is not closing 95% of the cuts in my projects. Big or small doesn't matter. I have searched the boards to look for the solution to what seems to be a common problem. So far I have tried lubricating the blade holder, modifying its position, used two new blades (40 and 60) and modified speed and pressure. Also I have tried every material from the CHEAPEST garbage vinyl all the way through MacTac 8300, 9800 and 6600. The same problem exists. I have checked the grey plastic cutting platen and it is pretty clean with VERY little wear. Lastly I am experiencing this problem with both Sign Blazer elements AND Flexi Sign 7.5. I am using both new and old designs all of which have cut through CLEANLY in the past week. I have three large jobs due by the end of this week and am quite concerned that I will not be able to deliver on time. Any other ideas as to what else if anything I can try. I really would like to avoid abandoning my LP24 and having to go and layout big money for a new cutter from a local distributor. This machine has worked so well up til now, I would hate to see it have such a catastrophic operational problem.

    Weld Help

SORRY IF THIS POSTS MORE THAN ONCE... Had trouble uploading the file... I am working on a set of eyelashes for a boat graphic. I have successfully created the image with the paths but am having a hard time welding together the lashes to the bottom arc so as to eliminate the TOTAL cut around of that arc. It works ok when weeded but looks really unprofessional for a customers boat. Any help would be appreciated. I have attached the eps of the image to better describe what I mean. Thanks Steve FireSignZ lashesTop.eps lashesTop.eps
  5. Anyone know what driver I can use (Creation is not an option) or how to import drivers in Flexisign Pro 7.5? I would like to start using this with my US Cutter so that ALL of my jobs will be on one program instead of my graphtec jobs on this SW and my US Cutter ones on SBE. Thanks! Steve I FOUND THE ANSWER IN ANOTHER SECTION OF THE FORUM. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,1731.0.html

Some help from those more experienced than me please

Well thank you for your help. I bought this cheap stuff as starter media with the expectation that I would have a pretty big learning curve. I have had the opportunity to recently use some 3M Scotchcal Reflective and had NO PROBLEM, but thought perhaps it was because that was only 4" wide. I will have to get myself some REAL vinyl and try with that. Will keep this cheap stuff for the small window graphics. It is nice to know that when I need to do the BIGGER jobs, I won't continue to have these problems as long as I quote it with GOOD materials. Now any recommendations as to what is betted than what. Best bang for the buckm, easiest to work with AND OF COURSE, best place to buy. Thanks! Steve

    Hang it up..

Not sure if this helps at all or not, but the rose itself seems to work nicely having tested it here. However when vectoring the text, it is VERY jagged. I re-created your item in SBE with the rose image but using their text insertion. MUCH cleaner weeding after cutting that version. Also, quality of vinyl AND cut speed could have a lot to do with it.
  8. I have had my cutter for about two months now. This is my first foray into VINYL plotting though I have been using print plotters for MANY years. That being said, I had a pretty good start and have been fortunate enough to get a few paying jobs already. HERE IS MY PROBLEM. I am working PRIMARILY with 5 yr outdoor vinyl from Sign Factory.com. All of my media is fresh and clean and I am working with a US Cutter Laserpoint plotter and SBE. When working on small jobs (up to 12" x 24") I pre-cut my vinyl and flatten it so as to avoid the unroll bubbles. HOWEVER, whenever I need to do larger jobs and use the attached roll holder, the bubbles come up as the roll unwinds and screws up either part of or the whole cutting job :'(. I would love ANY assistance or ideas I can get as this is quite frustrating, time consuming and wasteful. Thank you to all in advance! Steve www.firesignz.com
