  1. On my 435 from cobraink it has their cis installed and no problems on filling as the tanks are mounted on the side of the printer not in it. +1 for quality paper I ordered some off ebay one time and it looked like cardstock. If it's not super smooth and shiny on 1 side DON'T use it. Also I know I don't speak for everyone on this but I bought 2 cis kits 1 for 1100 and 1 for c88 and neither worked even as close to as well as cobraink setup. Wish I had heard of them to begin with could of saved some cash along the way. Jay

    where to buy bulk shirts

If no license jiffyshirts. If you have a license Sanmar. Not only great prices but free ship over $200. I pay $1.36 for white 6.1 oz. Port & Co. which is a brand they own.$1.98 for colors. They are awesome to deal with, more than once I've ordered online and had to call them a few minutes later and add to my order w/out any problems. Be sure to ask about case pricing which gives the best prices w/out actually having to buy by the case. Jay

Heat Applied for Dri-Fit type shirts

I believe siser says the same thing, just not 100% sure. The reason for the alcohol is to help evaporate any moisture still on the shirt from what I understand. We do the occasional mesh jersey and some athletic gear and all we normally do is a short prepress to ensure there is no moisture is left behind. Jay

  5. We have been doing shirts for a few years now and after much trial and error (as well as 3 workforce 1100 in the dumpster) this is what I have come up with: 1: for all white shirts except 100% poly we use jetpro soft stretch transfers printed on an epson printer, currently a smaller workforce 435 all in one. Had larger format printer and almost never needed the larger size so I consolidated into all in 1 no more seperate scanner or copier to deal with) Look at cobraink packages and stay with pigment ink for best results. 2: unless doing large quantities I prefer the Ricoh line of printers for sublimation because you can leave it on the shelf for weeks if you're slow or on vacation, etc. and it prints first time every time. The 3 WF1100's mentioned above all had printhead failures even when we made sure to run them at least once a week. I believe epson is an awesome printer if used almost daily which is why we bought the 435 for shirts because we use it for everday printing also, never has time to set around and dry up. But the Ricoh was a necessity because honestly I don't sublimate enough to keep an epson from drying out and ink isn't that cheap just to waste on test pages every couple of days. 3: If you venture into off white and dark shirts I use Alpha Dark but that's just my personal preference of whites most people agree on JPSS. Thanks Jay

    4x8 coroplast supplier

I noticed full sheets of coroplast on USCUTTER site about a month ago but you had to buy large qty. I wonder if this coincided with the buyout by Laird Plastics? Jay

    4x8 coroplast supplier

I was pay less than $9 a sheet for white last summer before Grimco bought out my supplier. Now it's close to $17 a sheet. Contacted Glantz and waiting for a response right now. Anyone in SC want to share some supplier info for sheet goods as everything I used to buy is at least 30% higher through Grimco. Jay

    how to price this

I had to stop using clear tape even on my R.T.A. decals because no matter how many times I said don't install wet they would watch something on youtube or whatever and come back saying it won't stick. Been on there 2 days and still won't stick. Paper tape stopped all of that. Jay

    how to price this

I would be around $75 over the counter. That's for Oracal 651 and paper application tape. Install depends on many factors such as difficulty and distance. Jay

    Copam cp2500

I can't speak for the Copam but my Laserpoint 1 did what you are describing a couple of years ago and it ended up being the motherboard. Jay

JPSS is the way to go to prevent future problems. Tried many other brands and JPSS came out on top every time. Jay

    Clear Vinyl

I do cut vinyl for on portable dance floor and instead of masking we use clear vinyl, kinda like a poor mans laminate. It protects the cut vinyl and makes application for the customer a 1 step process. Once it's down you're done, no tape to remove and graphic holds up a lot better than if it was just laid out cut vinyl with feet all over it. Jay
  14. Just curious what your typical turnaround time is on a job such as banners, shirt, etc. It seems like we are getting known for rush work and was just curious how long on average it takes other people to go from initial order to delivery. Jay

    How'd you get started?

I got it to this almost by accident around 2007. I was selling car accessories and vinyl graphics that I was ordering from China. The orders kept coming in slower and slower and the quality was so low on the last order I received we threw them out. I figured if some guy in China could do it so could I. It didn't take long for people to start asking about banners and coro signs. Next thing ya know I've got a store and handle mostly small businesses. Hardly ever get asked to do graphics on a car anymore. I'm mostly self taught with a good bit of help from here. Jay

    turn around time

I've been in the 24-48 hour range with in stock materials. If it's simple or your a good customer same day is not out of the question. It just seems like everyone says they went this shop or that shop and were told 7-10 days even in the simpler stuff. If I get busy enough I may consider a "rush" fee but it seems the other area shops are either super busy or slow based on their lead time. We do t-shirt transfers, hats, dye-sub dog tags, car tags, coffee mugs etc. while you wait. Jay

    little projects

I'm still working with a press on mine as most of what we do is 1 off work. I never thought about wraps for full bleed I ended up making a template that keeps me off the handle about 3/4" to avoid the fade. Also my customer picked up the decals you did for us and thought they were great. Someday I'll get a printer but until then any print work I get I'll be contacting you. Jay

Thanks for the info. We're about $2 higher on the 11 oz. but I stopped carrying the 15 oz. a while ago.

Very nice work. Off topic but would you mind sharing what you retail your mugs for. Just trying for a comparison to see if we're on point with them at the store. Jay

    Vinyl Cutting questions

+1 on the Cleancut 60 blade. I just got my first 1 last week after reading several comments from Dakotagrafx. Well worth the money. Jay

How much pressure do you cut with?

Do all of these machine read the same scale for speed and pressure. On my Laserpoint 1 I run pressure at 95 and speed between 50 and 60. Any higher speed and cut accuracy suffers on my machine. Jay
  23. Grabbed the hands and thanks. I can always use an extra set of hands around the shop Jay

    Vinyl Cutting questions

Watch you pressure also, if small letters seem to be popping off when cutting try reducing your pressure a little. Jay
