    Crackhead of the Day

i am on 2 different local facebook sales group pages. One lady on one of them posted that she has sold her RV camper for $800 to a guy on the other page, and now 1 month later, he is trying to resell the same camper for $2,000...she put up a huge drama fit and people were going crazy. I was like, well its his camper now, he can try to sell it for as much as he wants, it doesn't matter what he bought it for, its called capitalism, to make a profit. That $1.69 bottle of pop at the gas station, the station paid $0.59 for it... i guess they are making too much of profit on that pop. If i had a friend sell me a car for $500, and i turn around and sell it for $1,500 and the new owner finds out that i only paid $500 for it, yeah he might get mad, but WHAT I PAID FOR IT, is NONE of his concern. Do you tell people what you paid for your roll of vinyl? 24"x30' roll of 651 is about $27...so lets round that to an even $30. $30 for 30' is $1 a foot. I just sold 3 decals, 8"x 22" So i used 24" of it, 2 feet, so i used $2 worth of vinyl. Sold for $25. WOW.

    ACE HARDWARE

So the owner of the local Ace Hardware came into my store today, he wants the ACE Logo and his phone number put onto his new trailer and his truck. I know this is a touchy subject, and i don't want to get sued by ACE for doing this...so how should i proceed?

    ACE HARDWARE

He just stopped by today...said he had never heard of needing written persmission....said the print shop in town did a banner and brochures for him using the ACE logo and they didnt request any written permission. I explained to him that the logo is copyrighted and trademarked and can't be reproduced legally without consent.....and i cant help it if others broke the law to make a quick buck and are willing to risk a big lawsuit. He said he would talk to his district manager that was coming today about it.

    ACE HARDWARE

Thanks skatecrow..i will download them tomorrow when I get to my store. I sent the guy an email, asking him to provide written permission from corporate office...just hope I don't scare him off. He wants his 12' enclosed trailer redone, his new 14" flatbed, the bedsides vinyled up. And his company truck. He also wants some coroplast signs and banners.done for some sales, etc. So hopefully everything will go smoothly and i can start getting some actual money coming in. Went thru my last 3 months of in-store sales....i have only $220 in sales from walk-ins. But another $1800 in online sales for those 3 months. I put an add in the paper for a FREE NACHO DAY at my store this friday. i bought several bags of nacho chips and a huge can of nacho cheese and lots of bowls. Will have tables set up with he cheese in crockpots and serving food. Hopefully i can drive up some business.

    ACE HARDWARE

Yes I am aware.....thats why i asked and posted this because i wasn't sure how to go about it. Do I email them or do i have the dealer/retailer do it?? What should the permission detail, should they have my name and business listed in it...or will it be just a generic permission for the licensed dealer to have stuff done? I have never seen a permission letter, so i don't know what to expect or look for to make sure it's legit and covers my ass.

    ACE HARDWARE

    ACE HARDWARE

yeah thats what i was thinking... i will just have to tell him i will need that. just wasnt sure if there was already something like that in ACE's policy, i can't find anything in their policy about it.
  17. Ok looking at a large 1700sq ft store front right on main street downtown, for $350 a month. Heat is included, i would have to pay for electricity and internet. Great traffic, right next to a pizza place and hair salon, across from the DMV and several banks, also next to several other outlet stores and businesses. And yes 2 blocks or so away from a screen printer shop/decal shop, so there will be some competition. The place is pretty big, you walk in and theres a big open spot to the right, then u go down a hallway and theres a large office/room on the left, and another on the right, both of these are about 14x14. Then you go further down the hall and there is the large huge room, probably 30x30 or so... To get started i was thinking about sub-renting out some space for shelves and displays for local crafters and vendors, i already have 6 people interested in renting displays. There is another store in a smaller town down the road, call Casandra's Gifts, and she rents out shelf and display spaces for $25 a month. She told me she has about 3/4 of her monthly rent paid for by those displays. My wife is supporting me on this...and i can easily work a night job or part time evening job to help us get by on our home bills, along with her fulltime job. I have a job offer, got an interview next week, to work the 2nd shift, from 2pm-12pm Monday-Thursday. So I could run my shop Monday-Thursday from 8am-Noon, and all day Friday and some Weekends. And sometimes when im not available, the wife can be at the store too. Of all the places i have looked at, this is the biggest and the price is great. The other place i looked at was about half the size, and triple the cost, and it wasn't on mainstreet, it was hidden off the alley.
  18. lol yeah it says "STRAIGHT OUTTA GLENWOOD" lol. Thought it may be a good seller, lol.
  19. Well after about 2 1/2 months, I finally got my large sign put up.

No i havent had a chance yet to do any more. But looking at the bad samples i have, it does appear they are all on the bad side.
  21. She says she wants to help, but when it comes down to it, she doesn't want to. I have to beg her to help weed stuff..and ifs its more than just text she ends up messing it up. She doesn't have the patience for it. Tried teaching her to use signblazer and set up the cutter, but again she doesn't have the ambition to do it. Then she gets mad at me cuz i dont wanna help her with her scrapbooking and stuff. The other issue is, i have trust issues. I don't trust anyone to do my job for me, at least not many. Im picky and have to have it done my way. But my 16 year old nephew that just moved up here, i had him in the store for 2 weeks teaching him how to use the stuff...he caught onto it really fast. He understood how to arrange stuff front to back, he understood how to weld stuff together and punch thru, etc. I had him whipping out stuff, weeding, applying tape and making shirts! He just caught on really fast. The only issue i had with him was organization...im picky when it comes to how stuff should be organized, from files in directories, to tools on the workbench.
