using a plotter to cut vinyl is NOT DIE CUTTING
KYSIGN replied to Dakotagrafx's topic in General discussion
I saw a few vinyl die cutting machines but they cut with a heated die instead of sharp blades. You still have to weed and mask like normal but the output is excellent. The obvious downside is you need an expensive custom die for each design. -
I was informed that Greenstar is not General Formulations after all and that General Formulations is actually pretty good. I love how helpful the members of this forum can be without being negative. +1

I have avoided those brands because I thought they were the same material. If that's not the case I may need to give them a try. I have only cut greenstar a few times and other than the smell it wasn't that difficult to work with. I can't speak for longevity.

Slice, I thought briteline, greenstar etc were all made by general formulations and just rebranded.

I prefer a good NAS setup vs sharing a workstation drive. NAS will typically use less electricity than your average computer and create less heat. Some NAS systems have apps that work with Android and iOS. Whatever you choose make sure you backup frequently. I backup to flash drive, external hdd, dvd and dropbox.
-
You can look into NAS drives (network attached storage). To access it outside of your home network you would need to assign the drive a static network ip address and forward the appropriate ports. You would also need a static ip address from your isp or sign up for a ddns service.

I don't know about version 3 but the version 4 trial only exports the word DEMO and not the actual file.

A similar thing happens with CMYK white vs RGB white. If I use CMYK white the printer uses ink and prints a very light grey. If I use RGB white the printer doesn't waste ink and the extra white paper I use actually shows thru.

It looks a lot like Serpentine.

I would lose the distressed font because It looks like someone cut out individual letters and combined them. The Lobster font for top quality huge savings looks odd in all caps.

mb20music, Which holiday is that font for?

It sounds like poor communication and financial planning on your part. Your post is difficult to decipher so I could be wrong. -
Keep in mind the file you linked is for personal use only. I don't use a lot of dingbat fonts for cutting.

You need to peel the application tape off at 180° angle. You will be peeling it back onto itself. To clarify the nonsticky side will be touching the nonsticky side as you peel. If you pull it outward the hightack tape can pull up the lowtack 631 vinyl. If you still have problems then it could be the paint or surface prep. I recommend cleaning the wall with a soft dry cloth first. You just need to remove dirt and oils. If the walls are sticky you probably have cigarette smoke buildup and will need to use an appropriate cleaner and allow to dry throughly. Don't install on freshly painted surfaces.

Just to be clear that 10 disc set doesn't have the stick figure set you are looking for. That set also has a lot of low quality auto traced junk, duplicate files, and copyright files. It may still be worth a few dollars to you but don't expect it to have the designs you asked for.

It's teenage mutant ninja turtles and it's not something we can share on the forums.

3M prismatic reflective vinyl
KYSIGN replied to straydergame's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
You can try putting some matte finish scotch tape over the marks to reduce glare. -
I hate to post this link but it's relevant so hopefully I won't get slaughtered. http://www.signs101.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-119986.html

Thanks for the update.

I charge around $15 per 18"x24" coroplast sign and I hate when someone orders them. I can't imagine making 24 at no profit.

I use the following but other options are available and opinions will vary. Wall decals Oracal 631 with HT55 application mask. Car window decals Oracal 651, 751 or 951 in that order depending on needs and budget. Rtape 4075 with RLA application mask. Car body decals 751 or 951 depending on needs and budget. Rtape 4075 RLA application mask. Store front windows are the same as car windows for me. I offer customer the option of 651, 751 or 951 95% choose 651 and it lasts just fine in my area. If you are in some place with extreme UV you would want a minimum of 751.

You can put a contour/outline around the design and subtract the design from the outline. This should create an inverse image.
