  1. This is the very same problem that I am having and have yet to discover the issue. But the variables asked when trying to save an eps in Inkscape just might be the answer. Does noone know what variables we are supposed to use? Postscript level2 or 3 etc?

not the same problem as yours,  this person is trying to use Signmate cutting  software., which is  software made JUST for the Roland.cutter.  And it only imports/has a plugin  for Corel or Illustrator they are trying to import from inkscape, not possible.  You are using Signblazer.

  2. change your blade offset. by .05 +  -  see if that makes a difference.  If one direction gets worse, go back the other way.  How are your test cuts looking?  give a bit more force on your blade.  Make sure there is not anything in your blade holder. like small pieces of vinyl not letting your blade turn freely. Drop of 3-1 oil in blade holder can help.

  3. Vectorising in Inkscape

SolutionThis walk through explains the basics of vectorising in Inkscape.

Step 1) Import your image. Click File>Import, find your file and click OK.

Step 2) Select the image, go to the top of the screen, click Path>Trace Bitmap.

Step 3) The Trace Bitmap menu will then open. Here you can select how you want your image vectorised and adjust the settings. You can also generate a preview. Once you are happy with the preview click OK and close the Trace Bitmap screen.

Step 4) Now you will have your new vector image and the old raster (bitmap, jpeg, gif etc) image stacked on top of each other. Seperate the two and delete the raster.

Step 5) Play around with your new vector image!

  4. Thank you!  That was all great information!  I know that I'm using a lower end cutter, but i don't have too much extra to spend on a real higher priced one.  If I could find something good in the $400-$500 range, I would be interested.

I will also look into the other ideas you gave.  One problem I have had, is that I can only use my Vista PC to cut with.  I have a laptop with Windows 7 and can't get it to work at all.

I thought that it might be a memory problem with the cutter, but hadn't thought that there would be a (semi) fix for that.

As far as my cutter goes, this was some of the best advice I've gotten on this forum.  Many people have given me some good information on other stuff, but I've had a mess of a time getting info on my cutter, even from US Cutter.  They just left me stranded on my last job ticket I put in.  They asked me some questions about my cutter, I answered, then never heard back from them, even after sending 2 more reminder emails about the problem.  I don't hold US Cutter support in high regard.  This forum and other users are far superior and more helpful.

your welcome.  ;D  glad I could help,  if you could just do some extra jobs, to go with the $400-500,  you could slide into a Copam pretty ez.
