etching cream? - did you cut a mask and apply the cream, and what material did you use for the mask?

A9 - pricey!

Ok, i got it cutting - i had to play with the cutline a little bit - the mask has to be on before it will cut, but i have to delete every layer from my image except for the cut line otherwise it cuts every line in the image. im trying my first transfer now, ill let u know how it turns out.

I followed the instructions to a T - - I even had Levih walk me through it once the other day. It cut when he tried, but it will not budge for me. Heres what I've done - - Contour Cutting with SignBlazer and the LaserPoint 1. Select your vectorized graphic in Signblazer, then go to manipulate and click on Expand/Outline/Inline. Select Outline, and make sure Keep Original is the only option checked. Set the Offset to 0.00, and then choose the thickness of the contour line (how far away from the graphic you want the contour line to be). I use 0.40 for most testing, but it can be set to whatever you want. Click OK. 2. Now that your contour line has been created, you will need to select the contour line (not the whole graphic), then go back to Manipulate, and then click on Cut Mask On/ Off. 3. Click File, then Print. Go to Regist., and select the bottom two corner marks. Click OK. Now click Print. 4. Get the document from your printer and load it in the LaserPoint cutter with the registration marks at the front just barely sticking out to the cutting strip. 5. Click Finish. Now go to File, then click Cut a Print. Click Cut. Use the onscreen buttons with your mouse, or the keyboard number pad to jog the laser to the right side registration mark. Once it is in the middle of the right mark, click Next. Now jog the laser to the middle of the left registration mark, and click Next. 6. Now click Cut, <-------- (HERES WHERE MY PROBLEM IS) When I click cut - nothing happens!! I'm getting a little frustrated I've tried restarting SBE numerous times, and have even restarted the plotter and my computer a couple times -- I'm really stumped, can anyone help me?

I got my LP 24 yesterday, took it outta the box and built the stand. I installed SignCut X2 (which I bought in hopes of changing to Mac eventually) and hooked my plotter up via USB. My laptop doesn't have a serial input. The new hardware found popped up and installed the driver, but when I try and cut the head goes all the way to the right and hits the red reset button -- EVERY TIME!! I tried to calibrate the cutter, In SignCut you have to move the blade with the keyboard arrow keys, but that function is not working on my computer. I also checked to make sure that my USB connection was working and on the right COM port, and that the FTDI driver was installed. VISTA - Start/Control Panel/Device Manager/Ports (Com & LPT)/USB Serial port (Com5)/Driver Driver Provider FTDI Driver Date 3/13/08 Driver Version 2.4.6.0 Then I made sure that my software and port had the same settings - VISTA - Start/Control Panel/Device Manager/Ports (Com & LPT)/USB Serial port (Com5)/Port Settings Baud Rate 9600 Data Bits 8 Parity None Stop Bits 1 Flow Control Hardware SignCut-X2 - Cutter button/Cutter Baud Rate 9600 Data Bits 8 Parity NON Stop Bits 1 Handshake Hardware I'm guessing I'm suffering from need for a USB to SERIAL cable, but I want to be sure before I make a purchase I don't need to. I also tried to cut from a SignBlazer Elements trial (it crashed every time I tried to cut) No Solution Yet - can anyone help?

or try SignBlazer - it sounds like you're having the same problem I had, BTW I would really like to get SignCut working

I will, I have been able to connect it with the USB that came with it now, and it's working fine for the most part - the usb to serial is a lil better, it doesnt stop in the middle of cutting for no reason like with the regular usb.

it actually didnt get here til tuesday ken - if i'd had it shipped regular freight on thursday it woulda been here probably on tuesday. ps Im shipping the other one back today, how long will my refund take?

i wasn't able to cut anything with SignCut - although i do prefer it becuase of the GUI and the ad-on in Corel that lets you export right from Corel. I'm working on a job now, and when I finish I'm gonna play with it some more.

My main issue was communication, not only with the software but with USCutter I backtracked from the PC to my laptop, and was able to get the cutter working with SBE, through the usb to serial. But no luck with SignCut x2.

thanks fivestar - i guess i just had to keep trying until i got the right combination.

Ok, this is the part where I start eating crow I guess. Fivestar, somehow when I put SBE on my other pc it worked this time, I dont know how or why, but its working. I'm using SBE through COM1 with the serial connection on my PC running XP I was about ready to shoot myself or the cutter. As for USCutter support, hope you guys get your issues worked out.

I spoke with Levi this morning, he said Ken was out running errands today.

I had to pay for my replacement motherboard, and for overnight shipping aswell as saturday shipping. But my part didn't show up til Tuesday. How's that for service?

I wish I would have spent more time in these forums before I made my purchase. . . so I would've known what kind of service to expect.
