    Copam 2500

I have the 2500 up and running. Total time to the first cut was One day after verification of communication from the computer (via the Serial/USB cable into Sign Cut on a Win XP Pro OS) and receipt of the manual. I have cut ten 24 x 18 signs using red and blue BGS vinyl. This vinyl cuts easily and weeds like a dream. The cutter performs flawlessly. It is quick to cut and runs with an accceptible volume level of chirps whirrs and grunts. Setup for the blade and pressure was taken from simple PRACTICE. I used less than three feet of vinyl and MADE NOTES with each change. If the bonehead running it would pay attention to the procedure to make each individual cut, there would have been no issues whatsoever. (Anybody want to guess what happens when the "sheet" type vinyl is selected with a 10 yard roll of vinyl in the machine? I also learned a couple of new words when I forgot to do a measurement before hitting "cut". I will add an emergency stop switch to the master power line if I do that one more time). Sign Cut works fine for the type of use the cutter gets, I am still in the learning curve with it. I process the text etc in Corel and send the result to SC with the Corel plug in. A quick refrence to the staff at Us Cutters. It is rare to find the level of customer service and true desire to keep customer satisfaction at a high level that is in existence at US Cutters. A small shipping error was immediately corrected. The rep went out of his way to get the transfer tape sent out. Ken was kind enough to find a manual for the cutter and quickly send it to me. I recently ordered the Laser Point 24 with the contour cutting. I am anxious to see if this cutter is as simple to use as the Copam. For the new folks: This forum has ALL the information you need and links to tutorials that will get you started in a new and enjoyable form of artistic creation. I strongly urge you to READ the postings that contain information you have interest in, go to the web sites, go to other similar forums and repeat the steps. The men and women that frequent these forums are EXPERIENCED in the operation of these machines and the software. Several of them are FACTORY REPS. A final bit of advice: THINK before you ask your question!! Be SPECIFIC in the DETAILS of the inquiry/problem. Don't make the responder guess anything. You should have given a complete description of the issue with the software and hardware you are inquiring about in the FIRST message.
  4. Perhaps this was answered in another post but I can't find it. Will EITHER the Copam 2500 OR the Laserpoint cut sandblasting rubber?? If so, can anyone help with a source of this product?? Thank You. Ken

THANK YOU KEN!! Once again you have proven why this is the ony source anybody needs for information and a fast reply to a question. Ken Myers
  6. Absolutely PRICELESS thread. I can't thank all of you enough and a special tip of the hat to Firemalt for the concept. As a Fireman I especially appreciated Mickey. He will be the first project for the Laser Point 24.
  7. My donated NIB Copam2500 is here and assembled. A most robust machine indeed!! My problem is that I don't have an instruction book for initial setup or daily operation. I'll gladly pay anyone time and trouble to forward a copy of the guide. I do have the mini-disk with the drivers and all the factory cableing. I'll assume that the Signcut x2 is the prefered cutting software. If so, I'll get the trial version and begin the learning curve. I am using a Vista driven computer without a parallel connection, only USB. I have another computer that uses Win XP Pro. It has lots of memory and is quite fast. It can become a dedicated machine for this plotter using the parallel port if that is the best set up. I have traced this series of questions and comments back to the beginning of the forum. I have read all the information and product reviews I could find so I have a basic knowledge of the cutter, its features and issues. What I need, beyond a instruction guide, is a nudge in the right direction to begin doing some test cuts. I have Adobe CS3 as well as Corel 12 for the base design programs. I am much more comfortable with Adobe, but I can learn Corel if needed. This machine opens many new doors for me and fortunately I don't have work for it. I can take my time and suffer any problems without worrying about lost revenue. The cutter will be used to cut the outline of graphics printed on heat transfer paper for dark garments as well as single or dual color heat transfer garment imprinting and the usual signs etc. Ken
  8. A client found it and is sending it to me. I do not print signs at this time. I was in the market for a cutter to outline transfer paper designed to allow me to print on BLACK T-shirts. I have read about the machine and how well it functions as a sign maker. The question is, can it pick up the edges of a 8 x 14" piece of paper and cut out a simple outline that has been printed on it via input through Adobe or Corel?? I suspect the answer will be no and I will have to open a sign shop to get any use of it. :'( AND buy a Craft Robo Pro. Ken

I have been given a NIB Copam CP 2500

Fivestar, Thank you very much for your input also. I see US Cutters makes a 24" contour cutter. I have done lots of forum reading. It looks like the Roland 24 will win the business. It seems to have more features than I can currently use which opens the door for future business expansion.

I have been given a NIB Copam CP 2500

KEN, Thank you for your promt answer to my question. I am still very pleased to add this equipment to my shop. I can now offer contract printing. The client wants me to send her data on all the cutters that WILL contour cut and she will provide the one that will serve that need. I'll study the spots to advertise the service after I learn the proper operation of the machines. Best wishes, Ken M.
