    Newbie from NYC...

I apologize John, your right....... I had something else in my head at the moment! I blanked out the Titan 3 part when I was reading it. I focused on "no instructions" and it took me back to my SC.... then I remembered the huge book I got with my Graphtec.

    Newbie from NYC...

On the low end cutters no instructions seems to be the norm. However, as you found out google is your friend. As you move forward in the field, it will continue to be your best friend! Of course, there is a ton of talented folks here that are willing to help out too!

    Embroidery Maybe

I too have wanted to do this. A lot long than I wanted to do vinyl!! I got started with vinyl cause it was so much cheaper. I got busy quick and soon had saved enough money to buy a use embroidery machine. I thought this is great! I can set the embroidery machine up, put an item in and let it do its thing while I do vinyl. Turns out it didn't work that way. Got a used toyota. I was so excited. Got it home, set it up and realized I didn't know anything about embroidery and really didn't have the time to learn. I managed to learn enough to get a few little things out of the machine.... just playing really. Didn't have the time to learn and the machine sat for almost a year then I finally sold it off. You know have me interested again! I have always wanted to do it. I should just bite the bullet, buy a good machine, take some classes/training and learn it right. Then sell off the vinyl and just do that. I always get asked if we do embroidery. Dang you........ now I won't sleep tonight.......

Thanks for that tip..... heading to Home depot to stock up if I can get there before the close!
  16. I guess I got lucky. When I bought my startup package (cutter press and some vinyl) I was doing it because I wanted to make stuff for ME! I like wearing custom shirts and when I have something I want to say to the world I just want to put it on a shirt and walk around. That being said, My main goal was to start selling a few things here and there, to make some profit.... just enough to cover all MY expenses so I could play and have all MY stuff be free. I was a little nervous wondering the same thing. How am I going to sell stuff... and what and where and how. It turns out, if you do shirts.....your gold! I originally started out thinking I was going to do signs and banners..... wrong. I have done my share of those for sure, but once folks found out I could do shirts it was like lighting a fuse. I have never used Etsy or Ebay to try and sell. I have never set up anywhere like a flea market or anything. I got some business cards and some custom pens and started passing some out around town. (Mostly pushing my signs, banners and window decals) not much happened. I make a accidental contact by a friend introducing me to a friend that was buying a business that had been run down for years. Turns out he liked signs and I went from personal hobby to full time sign shop. He kept me pretty much busy full time for about two years! Once he found out I did shirts too.... he has bought hundreds of shirts, hats, hoodies.... you name it. Any way, while that was happening I started experimenting with other business's and individuals (since i was now actually starting to have some kind of inventory) I would just sometimes make up a freebie for someone here and there. A custom coffee cup for the local cafe with their logo, a "parent shirt" for a mom on my daughters softball team, a ball cap for the guy the runs the tackle store etc. It didn't take long for those folks to start ordering and spreading the word. I was still kind of new to all this and was so busy I couldn't keep up. I finally had to (on several occasions) just turn some jobs away. So now, when I start seeing a light at the end of a tunnel, I just make up a freebie for someone and kick start my self again. By doing this I have noticed kind of what works for me here, I now have a mental list of places and items for use in the future. I found the biggest thing for me is to make those contacts with moms for shirts. People want shirts for everything! Wedding parties, birthdays, gag gifts, family reunions, recreational sports (parent shirts to help support their kid) vacations and the list goes on and on. There are about 6 places in my small town of 5000 that do shirts. 3 are actual store fronts and the other 3 are home based and I am still to busy for my own good. I am not sharing this to brag in any way, the point I am trying to make is sometimes people when they first start try and over think it. Kind of panic that they made a mistake spending all that money on this stuff. Here's my suggestion.... don't panic. First, get familiar with your equipment and learn that software quickly! Learn how to do your own work.... it's really not that hard, especially with all the help on this forum! Then just try and make a few contacts. Be strategic.... What are you wanting to sell and who/what in town is your main target..... some freebies! If you aren't set up for shirts..... you might want to consider it..... it is steady work once the word gets around.... Trust me!! Good Luck!
  17. Ditto, I am busier than I want to be and have tried to turn people away when they call explaining that I am busy and they would have to wait awhile for their order..... they always choose to wait. Time to up the prices! I will get more free time one way or another!!
  18. So, they, and you, charge the same price for just the front of a shirt, and or the back? I read that as 14 for front and 14 for front and back.... so the back is free? I am confused.... sorry

Titan I do you own one ?

I also have an SC (and a graphtec) I have no problems with tracking on the SC on a per job basis. I can line up a job and cut it (14" x 10') and it manages to cut fine. I do however have to realign after each job but no biggie for me since the SC machine is so easy to line up quickly as opposed the the graphtec (unless I am doing it wrong). I have heard people complain about the SC tracking before only to find out they just needed to tighten their rollers a bit. Maybe you have already checked that, I don't know. I have never used the titan 1 so I can't help there..... Good luck

Titan I do you own one ?

if you insist on the titan, (which is fine) at least step up to the titan 2 and get the servo motor and stay away from the stepper motor! I have the titan 2 in my arsenal of cutters and it is a good little machine.
