A new art gallery has opened in town and the owner is asking me for small vinyl numbers to be put on the wall to number each work of art, but they have to be easily removable and not damage the wall. He said they had something like that an NYC gallery he worked at. Anyone ever cut anything like that?

And there is no risk of the square of transparent taking off the paint when he removes it?

Reminder this is a family friendly forum.

Well, you know what you can do with your new language rules? You can take a flying... ...till the handle breaks off and you have to get a doctor to pull it out again! -
What is your favorite clamshall heat press??
OWJones replied to DowntimeDesign's topic in General discussion
I burned my hands several times with my first clamshell - haven't burnt myself once (knock on wood!) since I upgraded to a swing-away. -
I specifically use the name "Oil Slick" vinyl because of people who can't handle the idea of "rainbow". That is also the name the seller of the vinyl uses, too. It is NOT rainbow colored - it is silver with a rainbow shimmer to it. I have a design with this material on my truck window and in sunlight it looks like shiny silver with an oil slick over it. It is a very cool look.

I know Conde does large format printing on demand - not sure if they press for you, too... http://www.dyetrans.com/sublimation_fulfillment.php

Rear feeds are best for dye-sub as you need to keep your paper stored away from humidity, so putting a stack into an internal paper drawer is only useful if you're going to be printing that whole stack right away - most dye-sub jobs I do are one-offs, so being able to drop in a single sheet of paper in the back is a major convenience.

I love that oil slick vinyl - I use it for lots of things.

I'm a cheapskate - I bought a roll of 24" wide white butchers paper and an Elmer's temporary glue stick...

Looking to buy the wax paper backing vinyl comes on by the roll.

Because we were talking about wax paper, and I mentioned that it is a topic of much discussion on various Facebook groups - people trying to do stuff on the cheap, or at the last minute and think that grocery store "Wax Paper" is the same thing as vinyl backing, or parchment paper - apparently because they sit next to each other on the shelf, and I was trying to point out that vinyl liner is NOT waxed paper, and no one should confuse the two unless they want to make a mess... -

I've seen several people on the Facebook craft groups suggest using wax paper in place of parchment paper for heat pressing, and/or for a temporary backing for rhinestone transfers or HTV after weeding. The wax in wax paper can crumble and come loose, so I always tell people that if you use wax paper, hopefully you don't mind having wax melted into your t-shirts - maybe not every time, but it is gonna happen... And heat press rhinestones have such a small surface area, do you really want to risk having them pop off because of tiny wax particles interfering with the bond because you were too lazy to run to WalMart and buy parchment paper? -

I thought it was silicon coated, not wax coated paper that vinyl is on, but I could be wrong... Nope, I was right... -
I would definitely find out if there are non-OEM cartridges available - you may have to spend $350 in ink cartridges just to find out it doesn't work...

Anyone have experience with "Portable Work Table Frame - Table Top Not Included" - http://www.uscutter.com/portable-work-table-frame? Just curious as to how sturdy it is and how much weight it can support. I need a table that size to put my CNC carving machine on (it's been on the dining room table since I assembled it in July/August, time to move it) and want something that isn't flimsy or will wobble around... And, "Velcro Trade Show Pop-up - Fabric - Canvas Trolley 3x3" - http://www.uscutter.com/Velcro-Trade-Show-Pop-up-Fabric-Canvas-Trolley-3-X3? Does that include the pop-up frame or just the trolley? The description on that item has never been correct and provides absolutely no clue as to what you get... I always like to check the clearance section whenever I place an order so I can get the most out of my $9.99 S&H fee...

Couple of odd-ball US Cutter Product questions

3x3' would be perfect for me to put on the short L end of the bar where I work to advertise upcoming holiday specials, etc. Just wanted to make sure that it was what was in the picture... -

Direct link to his ebay listings - http://www.ebay.com/sch/stickerman5000/m.html?item=201520142167&hash=item2eeb895757%3Ag%3AnFwAAOSwDuJWuN-Z&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 His per item shipping costs are expensive - but if you order multiple items he will reduce the total shipping cost - just put the items in your cart and click "request invoice". -
I was just perusing a 3D Printing forum and saw a bunch of people salivating while they anxiously await their tax return check so they can blow it on new equipment. Do you think we're going to see an influx of new users in the immediate future, or has the "I'm gonna get rich cutting vinyl at home!" fad already started to fade? I know that right after I started advertising my business, about 4 years ago, that several people in my town also bought vinyl cutters and/or Cricut machines and tried their hand at the trade and almost all of them have since given up... There is only one left who is real competition (and he has a digital printer and does wraps and window tints) plus the new guy who still has all the copyrighted and trademarked logos on the front window of his store and that he posts on Facebook as 'samples' of his work... He has these (and more) cut out of the same ugly color vinyl as his logo and hours, so they're obviously ones he made himself...

Buy a roll of ~14-15" wide application tape and apply it to the surface - then use a shallow cutting knife - US Cutter used to sell such a knife, I don't see it on their site any more - and carefully cut away the excess tape from your surface - then carefully peel it off and start measuring the remaining tape...

I bought a $10 disc of clip art! It had copyrights and a license agreement and everything! What do you mean I can't use the clip art I legally paid for? Isn't this America?

I was telling my sister about this at lunch today and as we left the restaurant to drive back to my house, she said "Maybe it's that guy!?!?" and I'll be damned if someone hasn't opened a brand new Graphics and Sign business less than a half mile from my house... I need to stop by there some day when the weather is nicer and I don't have to drive my highly decorated, and instantly recognizable truck into his parking lot and see if that is where the guy works...

Woohoo! Cheap vinyl printer! I went to check the ebay ad to see if the seller name was anyone I recognized. I thought there were only two companies in town with vinyl printing equipment - turns out there is someone else - or perhaps an employee of one of those two places doing work off the books after hours... I typed the phone number in the ebay listing into Google and boom - name, home address, etc. No clue who it is, which isn't terribly surprising in a city of 25,000 people - but it's rare that I don't at least have a clue who someone is...

We had plenty of snow and ice (nothing like that, but enough to make everything pretty and white), but it warmed up over the weekend and then it rained today with a high temperature of nearly 40° - except for the piles of snow from plowing, it's almost all gone and everything is now cold, wet and muddy...
