4"x10" Fire Department License Plate Blanks?

You could easily cut these from MaxMetal (diBond). How many are you looking to obtain? A 4'x8' sheet of MaxMetal will yield over 50.

    PVC sign or polymetal?

Polymetal = Sturdiness, solidity, rigidity. PVC = Flexibility Polymetal will present a glossy metal surface, and look like sheet aluminum. PVC will just look like plastic.

    in search of

Sports --- well, that's a pretty broad area, covering everything from soccer to hockey to lacrosse to boxing to wrestling. Here are my suggestions: Balls & Equipment (baseball bats, baseball gloves, basketball hoops, hockey & lacrosse sticks, boxing gloves. etc.) Outline figures of player-participants. (SignBlazer has a library filled with them) You will have to decide how to deal with copyrighted team logos.

** NOT CUTTING ALL LETTERS **

Hmmmmmmmm, it's certainly missing on my version of SB-UK (cracked). I had no choice but to select the RedSail, which works fine.

OWJones, that was impressive !!!! A Gold Star for you today.

** NOT CUTTING ALL LETTERS **

Yep. When I installed the SignBlazer UK version (cracked) the list of drivers grew exponentially to include pretty much every cutter on the market, but as it happens, the MH driver was not there anymore, so the RedSail driver came to the rescue. Try it and see if your problem disappears.

** NOT CUTTING ALL LETTERS **

Sounds like some sort of driver issue. Are you using RedSail driver RS-800C?

    Vectorization just joined

Howdy. As it so happens, the demands of our clients place us in the position of having to convert many things to cuttable line vectors all the time. It's a never-ending quest to obtain the necessary line art for our cutters to handle. So, yes, any offer to provide assistance is nice to see.

Need a little help with 25" SC series cutter...

Does your SignCut have LiYu drivers?

Need help on mounting a 4x8 aluminum sign

Make sure you are using a hammer-drill.
  13. It's simply outstanding to see the nearly constant flow of clients approaching my shop and requesting sign work, and most of their jobs are small stuff -- banners, bandit signs, window decals, etc. These two examples are basic 2'x6' items, one on a teal banner and the other using coroplast (with grommets). Feel free to post your own "small stuff" -- let's see what is happening out there.
  14. I can only comment on the SC which is currently in service making signs at my retail shop. It runs consistently, churning out work daily, from big 12" letters to small 1/2" letters. If you want to pop for the $700 LaserPoint (with the nice catch-basket on the stand) I am sure you will be happy.
  15. I have cut 3M reflective many times with the MH low-priced machine (34") and it did a fine job. Just increase the downforce with the keypad button and that's all there is to it. Never had a problem. (Over time, the blade will suffer from slicing through the metallic material, but replacement blades are dirt cheap)

    Pricing question..

Someone in the forums provided a good equation for R.T.A. vinyl (handing the customer a ready-to-apply product, no installation required on your part) Add the Length + Width of the material, divide by two, and that is what you charge. For instance, 3+8 is eleven, divide by two, that's $5.50. for ONE In your job, you have 100, so you will use approximately 200 running inches of material (4 across, 25 rows at 8" = 200") 200 + 12 = 212 divide by two, you are at $106. total. I would probably go with the rounded-up number of $1.50 each. Sounds reasonable, right?

    Sign Blazer & Craft Robo

Can't be sure if your CraftRobo is the same one that was being discussed previously in these forums, but try Graphtec 50. Also, there was a mention of using GP-GL, not sure if that's applicable in your case. http://forum.uscutte...raphtec-ce5000/

    Jagged edges?

Poor James & Ramona, they now know that their "learning curve" is about to zoom off the charts!!!
  19. slice&dice

    Jagged edges?

First of all, James needs to be designing stuff right inside of a vector-based program, such as Adobe Ilustrator (or using Inkscape, a free alternative) Getting those 'jaggies' is a result of the conversion process from raster to vector, so James would be well-served by learning to create vector files directly as his source for cutting designs and not playing around with paper and scissors ('hand-cut' is what you termed it) and scanning. Best wishes, and welcome to our world.

Glad to hear that Greenbrier golf course is in shape, I noticed they've done some nice work with the greens.

    Neverending stream of small requests

I have no idea why Ordway makes them available for $80. -- I bought mine for $25. http://www.rjsign.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=OWNER Yes, I had to spend another $10 on clamps to hold it down onto the tabletop. Anyway, it works for me, I especially like the adjustability factor. Dr12v, I will indeed take the vinyl off that table in another day or so, I'm making a custom rack for them. Those are the 30" rolls I got along with my SC cutter when I ordered it last month, and I really didn't have a proper place to store 'em, so I just left them out like that, they added color to the customer greeting area. Believe me, this 500sq.ft. is cramped, but the rent is right and the location is nice. It's the perfect starter studio for a newbie.

    Newbie here to Cutting

Bienvenue ! Just for fun, download and install SignBlazer Elements. (Your SC machine is listed as the LiYu HF-1202) The reason I suggest this is to play around with the SBE Library of cuttable files. You may find something in there which appeals to your sense of fancy, and can be stuck onto the cutter head of your new unit. (Many people customize their machines that way)

    Neverending stream of small requests

Everyone has to start somewhere, I started with a $250. basic MH cutter last year, maybe one day I'll be able to expand into printing. I don't do this as a hobby, either. It is my primary source of income, and I'm grateful for the work, and for me, it's worth being in business at my small shop, doing what I can. It certainly would be nice to get a quarter-million-dollar contract !! How many employees do you have, BTW?

    bad storm

My shop got barely missed by a tree falling, the huge thing is still sitting there, with the power wire caught in it. Because of all the damage locally, the repair crews have been unable to get out to deal with this yet. At least we'll be back in business shortly, no lasting effects ---- I really felt badly for those people in Colorado who've lost it all.
