  1. I don't have a pcut, but that blade looks like its sticking out way to far.

    Have you read these?

If you look at the third photo that's how far the blade is out in fact not even that far anymore because I backed it in again even more to the point I can barley see it.  The other photo was just to show the blade point and I am pushing down on the release rod to the holder to get it out that far.  Thanks for the links.

  2. Yesterday was very frustrating but I discovered that there was indeed images on top of images causing a double and triple cut causing the problems.

Today I tried a different one and it cut great, no issues with the vinyl lifting.  I could have had the border out more on each side I guess but it's just for my truck and that's why they call it practice.

I just want to thank everyone that helped me with their comments yesterday , you folks are always quick to help out us new people

  3. Other than the logos we see all the time that we know are trademarked ,Is there some sort of master list or something?  This seems to be the topic lately.  Say I had someone send me an image of a skull with wings .  Being new and not up on logos etc. I find out it was the No Fear logo, but I really had no clue it was because thats not my kind of thing and I printed it and got caught.  (no I didn't print it or get caught).

I know it is still my responsibility that's the reason for the question ....

  4. Well I have never had the problems that you are talking about, have you called US Cutter?

Reading through your posts it seems to me that you have been trying all the right things.  Who has been making your graphics?  Double cutting will do that but that is sometimes a setting or sometimes it is nothing more then the image having the image behind it.

I looked at the file - To clean it up do this

Ungroup then select the border below the A - move it and you will see the first of the duplicated areas - delete this - then click on the triangular area below and to the right of the Y and delete it.  Select all and group - the file cut OK for me.

Thanks everyone I am thinking more and more it was as Mars said because  the problem seemed to be in the first two letters (it was double cutting and as I watched the second time is when it lifted the letter.  It wasn't perfect after the first two letters  but not as bad, so that could be a pressure or blade depth issue that I will keep working on.  Is there a simple way to get rid of double cuts?  Does everyone look at an image first to make sure it wont double cut?  To new at this to know the answers but with all your help especially all the thousands of Pm's to Vette (Kenya) I am getting there  :police:

  5. I did twenty five decals of this for a fishing buddy and this plate.  My cutter is still acting up. I have tried every single thing I can think of.  I tried all kinds of setting speed, pressure, I made sure everything was on track.  I cleaned the holder with alcohol and then sprayed it with wd40.  It still wants to lift the edge of the paper?

I tried 60 degree blades 45 degree blades new ones old ones LOL.  I think maybe I got a bad batch of blades I can't See what else it could be.  The blade spin around freely in the holder I have it so you can just barley see it but no good.

One thing I did discover was that it appeared to be cutting twice in the first two letters, and could that be the problem and if so what causes that?  I tried to highlight everything and see if there was another underneath and I couldn't find any.

  6. What's this on the end of your holder?

Kinda looks like a burr or something. Also in the 3rd pic.

    Dave

It may have been a small piece of vinyl stuck before I cleaned it with the alcohol.  I just pulled it off again and looked at it and it's clean no burr.  I tried some playing around this morning with it.  Vette suggested trying the 45 degree blade and it did actual cut a little better than the sixty degree ??  And both were brand new blades?

There is still and issue with the 3M though.  I can take the 651 and it seems to cut perfect and weeds nice, however like someone else said maybe it is old vinyl ? It makes a pretty good mess with the 3M and I tried all kinds of blade depth and pressure setting again.  It just doesn't want to cut that clean.  I notice even though the 3m is almost the same thickness as the 651 it appears to have a more rubbery finish to it than the more stable vinyl on the 651 if that makes sense?

  7. For what it's worth, the other day I attempted to cut a decal using some of the free 3M samples I got and had similar results, although not quite so severe.  The vinyl lifted up quite a bit around tight cuts to the point that the decal I was cutting wouldn't be usable.  I put 651 in and cut the same decal with no issues.

Same experience here. Perhaps it's due to my limitations or maybe the quality of the sample. I have not had a decent cut with the free 3M on detailed cuts.

So even though I am new it is looking more and more like maybe a vinyl issue thanks

  8. OK thanks for all the help that is what I was thinking.  I just tried a pretty good size decal and it seemed to cut it fine.  No lifting at all.  Then I tried text and although not as bad as the one in the photo it still lifted?  It was just a sample, guess I won't be going with that LOL...

  10. I did a search and couldn't find any.  I am having trouble trying to create a border around a license plate.  Problem may be I am new LOL.

I tried the library in SB but there is none with out some type of added design to it?

I found a template for the plate itself that's great, is there any for a border to go around one thanks Bill?
