Firstly, the forum moderators here(Fivestar, BannerJohn, and I) are not employees of USC. We get no pay, no kickbacks, or no freebies for the time we spend on this message board. I speak from my experience as a consumer, and a very small business owner, not for USC. The way I see it, a company wants to provide a product or products to as many customers as they possoble can at the best price without lossing money, and as fast and convenient for the customer. With that said... it ALWAYS goes back to the old saying "You can't please everyone". In your cause... this would include you. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people who purchase products from USC without any issues and are happy with the product they recieved, at the price they bought it, and within the time they got it(myself included). Again, my opinion... bottom line is, you gave USC a try, and didn't have a great experience. Maybe it was a one time mishap, maybe you should give them a second chance, and maybe you should just purchase your products from another vendors? If you can get a better price somewhere else, go deal with them... versus trying to bash a company because they are not at the same price. Either way... everyone has a bad day from time to time, your not so great one time experience doesn't give you the right to question USC and it's operations!

Best way to lineup vinyl on a CE5000?
firemalt replied to firemalt's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
Yeah... I like using the "Roll1" measurements cause it take it back to the edge of the vinyl. What I have been doing was pulling out about 2 feet of material past the blade, lining it up with one of the grooves, clamping it down, then adjusting the stops on the rolls, and finally pushing "enter" on the Roll1 to see if it's lined up... if not, do it all over again. urgh... but don't get me wrong, I love this new cutter! -
Fingers shooting across vinyl as it comes off roll
firemalt replied to Dr12volt1338's topic in Vinyl
It's called "tunneling"... it could be because it's cheap vinyl, old vinyl, or rolled to tightly(not rolled on a 3" cardboard tube). -
Odd Magnetic Sign Order
firemalt replied to john!'s topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I would charge your normal price for a 12"x18" with full color imaging... and justify the cost by calling it "custom sized" -
I've seen that bike on a site, I think... MotoHouston?

By doing it that way, can you still kern the letter closer together?

Is there a free/cheap "cut only" program out there ?
firemalt replied to SEA_TEC's topic in Other Software Programs
SBE is a good basic program to design AND cut from... which is a nice feature compared to other programs such as SignCut. I think the more involved a person gets into this industry... the more they are going to need AND want something better. I was blessed to get a great deal on Flexi Pro 8.1, and at first I came going back to SBE cause I knew it, and how to work the features... but now that I have gotten some of the basic stuff down with Flexi, OMG... it blows SBE out of the water. -
From my understanding the only difference with the demo version and and the registered version is the two pop ups you get on the demo version when the program is starting up.
-
SBE doesn't have that feature... basically what you have to do is type one letter, just down scroll and click your mouse to start a new letter. Once you have typed out your wording, select all the letters, and use the align option to get them all centered vertically.

For picture/image conversion... I would suggest Inkscape, it's a free program. (www.inkscape.org) For cutting... I would suggest Flexi Starter, can be bought at www.uscutter.com

+1... if you just do the request for them, they just keep asking for more and more. Take a few minutes to type up a tutorial, and they will learn themselves how to do it.

Place to buy blank magnets?
firemalt replied to firemalt's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
http://designer.realtimedesigner.com/magnetking/catalog/index.php&p=cGM9MTI5MCZwYzI9JnByPTEyODc4 I emailed them inquiring about the 6" oval... they have them in stock, just not current on the site. The are a tad cheaper than the 6" round magnets. And shipping for 100 magnets was only about $10 for 3 day shipping. -
Whats a set of 12x18/24" magnetic signs going for in your area?
firemalt replied to john!'s topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
$60 to $80 for a pair of 18"x24" depending on design. -
Nice little setup, Chuck.

1 Color Screen Printing, What to buy and how to?
firemalt replied to john!'s topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
To my surprise... stretched frames are fairly cheap. I would think, unless you know what you are doing, buying premade frame/screens would be the way to go. -
Lloks familiar... and I was pretty sure I had it, but couldn't find it, sorry.
