lp 24 still rounding corners help!
haumana replied to paz21paz's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
usually slower it better for tiny text. off blade offset should be .25, but others have had better results with different offset (ie. .27 or .30, etc.) You can slowing it to 40. I used to have issues about the corner being crisp and precise, but I then realizes that most people won't even notice if it's just a smidge rounded. Need to keep in mind that the LP is not a GraphTec or Roland. It's a great buy for the buck, but it is considered 'budget' compared to some other cutters. -
LaserPoint 24" and MAC OS X Software Questions
haumana replied to DescineModern's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Discussion
not a clue, but if you need to do a wet app, then paper tape - if not, lots like to use clear tape. I can't vouch for any brand of app tape being as I only use one Oracal paper. -
I mostly lurk now days. I try to respond if I actually think I might know something ... Hahahahaha .... thaty's why I mostly lurk.

And the funnier thing is that you know that there are just some people who are going to try to open that door! Hahaha.

Kudos to all of you trying to quit! My mother was dead a week after her 40th birthday because she smoked like a chimney. My father, who only smoked for a few years, then quite when my older brother was born, died two weeks before his 58th birthday. It started as stage 4 lung cancer, he actually survived that, only find out a four months later that the cancer has spread and metastasized in his brain. While he beat the odd for the length of time we had him post-diagnosis, he eventually succumbed to it. I never thought I would be parentless before the age of 35. I'm telling you people, you're going to want to be around to see major events in families' lives. It saddens me almost to the point of depression knowing that only one parent lived long enough to see me graduate, and not that I'm married yet, but neither will be around to witness that. At least my dad had the opportunity to "give away" my cousin when she got married. Quit, quit, quit ... Turst me, your children will thank you for it. Keep up the fight!

vinyl gets skewed while cutting
haumana replied to tshirtn00b's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
I would use all 5 rollers if possible. The more rollers, the less tenting and drift. Using all five should also insure even wear on them. Just make sure when you're not using your cutter, to keep the rollers in the "up" position to prevent them from getting flat spots. -

Uninstall, reinstall Uninstall, reinstall Uninstall, reinstall You might need to do it several times until it works. That is what remedied my comm issue between PC and cutter. Also, make sure that your cutter is "online" when you send the file ... there have been many times when I'm still in the every other mode except "online" -

I would guess that if it's his partner's company, than his partner should own the rights to the graphic. Sprinter - Check the Vectorize section of the bulleting board for assistance. I hight recommend using Inkscape (inkscape.org) to vectorize if it's a single color. It's the best freeware/open source vector program that's out there. If you need to vectorize color, then sign up for a trial of Vector Magic (vectormagic.com), it should allow you for two free graphics. You can search YouTube and find a tutuorial and one of the forum members here posted on how to vectorize in Inkscape. It's really, really, really easy. Learn it, it will be your bread and butter to vecotorizing. -

If your partner has the original digital graphic, then that would be your best bet. Convert to a vector image, and clean up if necessary. -

You might need to uninstall and reinstall SBE and drivers. You might need to do it several times. Another thing to look at is to see what COM port is actually assigned, if it might have changed. Go into your device manager and expand "Ports (COM & LPT)" and look for "USB Serial Port (COMx)" x will be the operative number you're looking for and that's what you need to use in the Cut Setup screen. -

Test cuts are strictly on the LP and not in the machine, so as long as the machine isn't mechanically broken, it will cut (even when not connected to a computer). If you're in SBE, send it to cut and SBE is saying that it's cutting (meaning, no error), then chances are you have the wrong port selected in the cutting screen setup option. Check that and make sure you have the right port selected. If USB was working for you earlier, then you can go back to that, double check that you have the right cutter selected, then make sure you have the right port selected. If all of that doesn't work for you, then get back to us for further troubleshooting. Good luck. -
LaserPoint 24" and MAC OS X Software Questions
haumana replied to DescineModern's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Discussion
Please do not quote me on this ... It's my understanding that you will need Sign Cut instead of Sign Blazer Elements to work on your Mac. To my knowledge, there isn't a way to cut directly from CS4 Illy. Like I said, please don't quote me. Another good place to post your question would be in the Mac bulletin board in this forum. -
Do you think he would notice if you put your phone number on the van instead of his? +1 That's exactly what I was going to suggest.

I think you get the vinyl from US Cutter. The app tape, I couldn't help you there - I only have paper tape.

Just got my two banners. Simply AWESOME!! Of course you know I missed the part about it being printed, but what a great surprise!! Now I don't need to worry about sticky adhesive or if the guys that will be using the banner are being careful on how they roll it up. I got a great price, and it was shipped the next day (only because I submitted my order so late in the day). I'm totally stoked! WooHoo!! I went to the supply store the other day to got myself some blank banners to 'practice' with, but after getting Bayshore Creations's banners in, I think I'd much rather outsource ) I'm still trying to figure out the best way to try and make multi-colored decals. Hahahahaha.

Hey All - So most of you know that I'm a intermittent hobbyist with my cutter. Still cutting single color, non-contour. Anyway, as one of my many "side" businesses I help a relative with his business, and we need a banner for an upcoming event on 3/12. I know, I know, it's just around the corner. Is there anyone out there that can help make a banner for me? I think a 5' x 3' size would work. It'll be text, with four logos. I've attached the logos below. I don't have them in vector, but I do have them in a slightly better resolution. Anyone? Anyone?
-
Holy Cow! Thems a lot o'banners. I've thought about giving it a go myself, but since I haven't even tried to do anything multi-color, I thought I'd be better off leaving it to the professional )
-
Like Jen said, I think it would depend on the type of surface that I'm trying to remove the adhesive from.
-
Anyone? Please? My money is just as green as the next . Some of the colors can be dumps, and I'll even vectorize it first. I've just never done a banner before, much less something multi-colored. This is too important a banner for me to do a learning curve on.
-
corel will be great to create vector images. You will need some kind of cutter software, which will usually ship with your cutter. as far as xp vs. vista, that debate is on going, and it really depends who you ask
-
This is my effort to "sub it out." Is there anyone out there willing to create the banner for me? I'm willing to ditch some of the shades of blue and any shadowing/gradients there are. If anyone out there is willing, please PM or email me (haumana@808email.com) and let me know how much. Mahalo!!!
