So are you gonna tell us who or what???
-
Hmm .... Danny Glover at a street fair in San Fransisco. The "HOFF" last December 27th at a most ghetto K-Mart we have on island. He was walking around with some really ditsy girls that looked young enough to be his kids, but you tell they weren't because they were hanging all over him. He must have brought them down, because those girl certainly did not look local. I wanted to walk up to him and tell him that I was a huge fan of that home video that his daughter (at the time was 12 or 14 years of age) made of him while he was drunk off his ass screaming that he wanted a cheeseburger or something like that. But then my boyfriend reminded me that it was the holidays and that my mother taught me to be nice who are less fortunate (because he sure is deficient in the child rearing department).

simply awesome. too bad he won't pay you for the patience that you have to deal with all these changes ... but then again, that would probably be priceless. -
You can cruise through the Graphic Request bulleting board - there's usually some really good stuff there. Are you looking for anything in particular? Not sure about the bubbling though (still relatively new to this )
-
Do have a bigger graphic that they can provide you with? That's awfully tiny to try and search for. Can you tell if it's a free hand, random graphic, or if it's actually a particular type of plant/flower/vine?
-
those pics are awesome! Dan, very nice. Did you have any problems with air bubbles or anything like that? Ryne, what kind of etch vinyl did you use for the semeria imports job? How does the etch vinyl handle compared to regular calendared stuff? Glow in the dark ... hmmm.... good for spooking the kids for Halloween? hehehehe. I requested a sample sheet from Oracal. Can't wait to try it out.

Mental note: Vinyl-Off = Good stuff! Thanks for sharing the experience and insight!

ditto. inkscape only looks hard, but it's super easy, and faster than Vector Magic (even if that's not free anymore).

You can search this forum, there are all kinds of instructions and walk-thru's in the Instructional Contributions bulleting board There are all kinds of places to look for materials. It will always come down to personal preference. You can check out the Vinyl bulletin board - there are some threads there that have links to request for sample vinyls. A good place to start looking is eBay though. The US Cutter online store sells vinyl too. Fellers McLogan Supply Company Sign Warehouse Mumpower Sign Supply Vinyl Sign Supplies JSI Sign Systems All this stuff is a good place to start. Good luck!

Since we've been discussion, viewing and critiquing websites lately, I was hoping to find out what software (and version) you guys use and what you feel your experience level is. Here's my info: Macromedia Studio 8 Suite (DW. FW, Flash, FlashPaper, Contribute, etc.): intermediate PhotoShop 6.0 (no laughing!): intermediate Coffee Cup Icon Studio: it's simple program JASC Paintshop Pro 7 (once in a very blue moon): beginner

vinyl paint stencils for custom paint- which plotter/software?
haumana replied to jasonsan's topic in Pre-sale questions
If you can afford it, then the Copam is the way to go. If not, then the Pcut, Refine, or LaserPoint will do too. Copam is currently the top model they offer. I opted for the LaserPoint 24" - I was restricted by space at my house and budget limit. Still a great machine and it's running great for me If you could attach a sample(s) file of some of the stuff you cut, and some of the smaller/detailed ones, someone here can vectorize it for you so that it can be but with SignBlazer Elements (the software the ships with the cutters), and actually do a test cut to see how easy or difficult it is to work with your graphic. -
Welcome to of the best forums out on the internet. All the cutters that US Cutters on their website and on eBay will do the trick. A couple of the models do a pretty good CAD plot from what I've read so far. I promise you, it'll be a great tool to add to your skill set - you might make some money along the way, and if you buy a US Cutter machine, then you will get unparalleled support from this forum. How much better can it get?

Had that problem too ... but after several uninstalls and reinstalls, along with the latest drivers and SBE version .. it all works smoothly (knock on wood). Make sure that you're using the correct driver too. I wasn't the first couple of times and that was part of the cause.

I am looking for two graphics, does anyone have them?
haumana replied to jake1's topic in Vectorizing
True, same with Fox bike graphics. Good to know. I shall consider myself informed. -
.plt type of plotting file extension.

Awesome ... not the money flow begins

Cutter snagging vinyl and pulling it up. How to fix?
haumana replied to squelch's topic in General discussion
I got that problem a few times... it was either because I was trying to cut something that was so minute, that even if I could weed it successfully, who could read or see it? Hahaha. The other times it's happened to me is because the blade (and/or) the blade holder was dirty. I started a whole other tread asking about the best practices for cleaning the blade: http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,4506.0.html I found that some vinyls just have really gummy adhesive ... my blade gets dirty quick. -
I tried the teach myself HTML (bought a few books and went through some of the exercises). I think I have a decent grasp on the applications, but realize that the rules (can/should be embedded, and what can't/shouldn't). I think I've only had to refer to actual code a few times ... because I just couldn't make DW bow to my will! Hahahaha. I give total props to anyone who knows HTML!

Any body of pics of the stuff used? I think that the pics that the vinyl manufacturers use are always "best lighting" situation. I want to see real world look I was thinking about picking some up to put on the those way too clear windows on the new(er) house ... way too clear. Hahaha.
-
maybe you live in a foreign/international location like me
-
I used to design in dynamic, but then the clients would call me up and ask, "why is everything running into each other?" or "why does everything move when I resize the window?", etc. From there, I went static. That minimized the phone calls. No I get, "How do I print the page so everything is on it?" ... landscape

Definitely tap into the trends that are happening around you ... or do something so radically different. This is your site, so build what you think your customers need to see. The only rock solid advice is to make the site easy to navigate. You're always going to have critics out there who are partial to white backgrounds, or dark background, serif vs. non-serif, etc. I still say you're on the right track! You're giving it a go, learning cool stuff in the process, and get lots of free helpful (and some not so helpful) advice from the forum ... that's a good thing, right?? hahahaha.

hahaha. may not be the county jail, but we do have a few sex offenders in the neighborhood (I'm so scared for the kids), and ... I'm pretty sure that the school is most likely educating a few future felons and criminals. hehehehehe.
-
I think if you're going to weed, application tape, and cut it yourself, then estimate how long it would take to do that too. The cut part is fast ... it's the weeding time that usually kills me

stencil cutting: how fine can I cut? best model for the job?
haumana replied to corkyp's topic in Pre-sale questions
Ditto. I would support Joe's comment. If you don't have a backing, then there is nothing stopping the blade from getting caught on something and shredding or slashing it. I already have issues when it comes to small letters and pieces, and the blade gets gummed up and starts lifting my vinyl from the backing (argh!). That's why even on those cricut cutter (as seen on tv) needs to have a backing too.
