  1. cool. is this the part where we get to cut vinyl and call our customers "tools"?
  2. Can Scion at least put his pic in his next reply? You know, so we all know what we missed
  3. what does the LCD window on the cutter say when you send the file to cut? Does it seem that the cutter is getting the file and starts the cut then quits, or does SBE say that it's sending the file, but the cutter does nothing? Make sure that the cutter is online. Make sure that the carriage isn't resting on one of the kill buttons. Make sure that when you are ready to cut, that the carriage will not accidentally hit the kill buttons. What is the name of the driver you're using, and what is the name of the port you're using? Not, USB, blah, blah, blah, but what does SBE say is selected for the cutter/driver, and port.

    prints but won't cut

Safe to assume that you're using SBE? If so, when going into the cut screen, make sure that you have the right driver being used and that the output file is going to the right port. I used to have the problem, then realized that it was stupid user error (I'm not calling you stupid ). Stupid user (myself) didn't have the right driver and "port" selected. After that, life has been cake. If you are confident it's a software issue (which is what it sounds like), the SBE forum is also very helpful (see the sticky at the top of this bulletin board).
  5. I'm almost a little afraid to ask. When you send the file to cut, what exactly changes color? When you were getting an error, was in error on the LP or an error in Windows (or Mac)? It would be a bit more helpful if you could list some of the details in your signature (i.e. OS, Cutter, Cutting software, type of connection being used for the cutter, etc.).

Does anyone have a collection of the Japanese and/or Chinese characters (with definitions)? Or the particular CD that HawgDawg pointed to in the link? I'd be interested to know the quality of the images, and how many images are actually "useful"? You know, like stuff people would put on their vehicles or bodies - not stupid stuff like "stove" or "mailbox", etc.

    can the Pcut.....

    same goes for the LP.

    Cutter cutting design

When you pull out the blade holder, see if it easily moves up and down, or if it gets sticky. While the blade within the holder itself is not a part that should be going up and down during normal cutting, it might be a little stuck and a little too far sticking out. Does the carriage itself not lift the blade when it's moving from cutting one item to the next? If I have the wrong "printer" selected, mine too doesn't cut. I know that there are updated drivers, however, the driver that I am using (before they even wrote one specifically for the LP) seems to work fine ... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Keep on posting, and we'll keep on replying until everything gets rolling smoothly! We're kind of persistent that way
  9. 2x what fivestar said! That is just totally awesome people!!! I think I'd probably get about 5 minutes in, the ditch it to watch tv or something That is just some MAD weeding skills!!! Simply awesome!

    Cutter cutting design

sounds like you blade is sticking out to far. it's probably 'slashing' as it's trying to move from one letter to the next.
  12. slopchops - what kind of issues are you running into? Like another forum member, I too am a reseller of domain name registration, hosting, and all the bells and whistles that go along with it. Feel free to check my signature which has the link to cheap domain and hosting. I'm always willing to help anyone trying to get started with a website of their own.

    anyone for "spotted dick"?

Honestly .. I have no idea what a suet is, much less than it being shredded. And what the heck is caster sugar?

    Vinyl off tracking

I load just about everything on the right side. 8-feet is a decent length. You can try loading the vinyl, then feed it forward a bit to see if the tracking looks okay. If it's a wee bit off track, just lift one pinch roller and move it just a smidgen and feed it back and forth again to test the straightness. for the smaller stuff, I use the white/black/yellow sticker on the front to help align stuff.

    Windsheild Banner help

I agree. There are just too many variations of degree of curvature on windshields to really do the calculations, unless you have one of those window tint software that can provide that information.

Post your pic. of your pet!

I have one male out of four dogs. He lifts his leg, but doesn't pee on anything vertical. He only hits grass. The problem that we have is trying to get him to exercise a bit more patience while the "girls" are doing their business. As soon as he sees any of the girls squatting, he immediately runs to them and I swear if they don't just finish up in time, he'd pee right on them (all three are smaller than him). He was never a humper before or after getting "fixed", however, after getting a new bed well over a few years of him getting fixed, we found that he was just waiting for the right "girlfriend". Moderators, if you find that the video is grounds for moving this thread to the Mature section, I would much prefer that the video link simply be removed and that this thread remain in the Off Topic section.

    Mac options

Hey Ken - I was kind of thinking the same thing. Now that I'm trying to cross-platform train myself, I'm spending more and more time on my Mac. I quickly perused the US Cutter website, and thought that it really needed to have a "System Requirements" spec some listed someplace. Just my
  20. I'm trying to install inkscape on my mac. when i open the application, one of two things with happen - either it tells me something or another about x11 then does nothing, or x11 opens up then does nothing. Please have patience with me. I'm a total newbie to mac and know just about nothing about how they work.
  21. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You! I got lost at the "Opendoc" file. Basically I must've been over looking it. You guys are the greatest! I'm relatively saavy when it comes to Windows, but am totally clueless on Mac. My only "real" Mac experience is the originall Apple ][, Apple ][e, and the very first Mac that only had the floppy / monitor / cpu all rolled into one - and the only games available were "Hacker" (which sucked), and "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego". Hahahahaha. I'm learning. Thanks for being patient. I'm looking forward to becoming "dual-platform" trained - one more thing I can add to my skill set. You guys totally rock!

    worst movie?

Oh yah ... that one sucked badly! Now there's another top contender. I just watched Alexander yesterday on AMC. As a big a fan of Angelina Jolie as I am, that movie sucked. I can't believe that I just about watched the whole thing. I got up in the middle of it wash the dishes and when I returned, I swear that the movie didn't progress one bit. I can see why there was no press junkit going around to all the talk shows. I think that should've been a "straight to DVD" release.
  23. I'm running 10.5.4 Leopard. X11 says it's v. 2.1.1. The Inkscape was the latest version from their website 0.46. I wend to the contents directory, there were 4 items listed: Info.plist, MacOS (folder), PkgInfo, Resources (folder). I went into the MacOS folder and double clicked on the Inkscape icon (properties says that it's a Unix Executable File (Universal). I got the same window Inkscape on Mac OS X While Inkscape is open, its windows can be displayed or hidden by displaying or hiding the X11 application. The first time this version of Inkscape is run it may take several minutes before the main window is displayed while font cases are built. and a "Terminal" window opened up and this info popped in: Last login: Mon Jul 7 16:52:47 on ttys001 /Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/MacOS/Inkscape ; exit; kokookolu-fellowships-macbook-pro:~ WebMac$ /Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/MacOS/Inkscape ; exit; logout [Process completed] I still get nothing, regardless how long I let X11 run. Did I screw up the installation somehow? Or is it installed properly, and it's just a "user error"? I'm putting my money on the latter as I'm such a newbie to Mac
  24. You can just route the seat belt behind the seat and clip it. That'll get rid of the ding ... unless you have those automatic seat belts, then you'll just have to deal with it.
