^ uncle's tweety bird requests and some Hawaiian honu (turtles) < Just realized that the times on my posts are about 3 hours ahead of actual HST time. V What did you want to be when you "grow up"? (Yes, I know the tense is not proper)

John sounds right - it really doesn't sound like the blade depth is set properly. How thick is this card stock? Is it possible that the blade is cutting through the stock and possibly pulling up some trace amounts of adhesive on the blade itself? (thereby causing the carriage to be stuck in the down position when it's moving from letter to letter). A little more info couldn't hurt either: which cutter do you have? how are you connected to the cutter? (sometimes bad USB connection can cause communication problems - slashing could be one of the many possible outcomes of that problem), how much pressure are you using? what is the speed set to? Give us a little more info about the card stock (thickness, poundage, etc.), and if possible, a bit of info on your adhesive back.

Jack of all trades, master of none... I will do just about anything anyone is willing to pay me for (legally) ... websites (hosting, design, managing, domains, etc.), PC/laptop repair, small business networks, home networks, chauffeur, mover (there are always a lot of family and friends moving - what's up with that?), dog watcher, dog walker, lots of help desk (hardware and software), IT consultant, audio/video technician, home theatre system installer, survey/focus group participant, HR consultant, Workers' Comp consultant, CAD drafter, babysitter (although I have to do that job for free), etc. But by far the best job is being the doggie cuddler. I'm a student of life and want to jam as much useful and more useless knowledge I can possibly fit into my little brain.

Give us a bit more info ... PC or Mac, what are you trying to print to? (physical printer, .pdf, etc.). Does it give you some type of print screen then freeze, or does it just freeze with no window opening up?

Walkthough on how to import, convert, node edit, and save in Inkscape w/pics
haumana replied to firemalt's topic in Inkscape
Mahalo! I've always wanted to know the node edit stuff. I would always do my clean-up in raster form, then converting to vector with Inkscape. This is the bomb! Ken - you need to make this a sticky!! -
trouble with letters
haumana replied to wallacefan48's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Is there a reason why the pressure is set so high? I started out with a pressure of 60, and now am up to about 75-80 with Oracal 651. I haven't found a need to increase blade pressure since everything cuts well. -
laserpoint blades
haumana replied to Meregator's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Umm.... if the US Cutters are Roland compatible, then shouldn't both Roland, and Roland compatible blades work in an LP? -
LP making small slices in the vinyl while moving..?
haumana replied to Big Rich's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
you can also check the bottom (flat face) of the blade holder. there are times when mine will get goopy adhesive and it will stick to the vinyl just a wee bit longer than necessary when the carriage raises the blade. -
bitmap will not cut
haumana replied to bubbles1079's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
You can post in the vectorizing section, but I suggest that you download Inkscape and give that a go. Do a search on tutorial videos, there are a handful out there - lots on youtube. sciondrgn did a quick one on how to vecotrize using Inkscape. http://inkscape.org good luck -
Cutter and Computer not communicating?
haumana replied to PhamousMedia's topic in LaserPoint Cutting Plotter Support Requests
I didn't quite understand your response to Ken's question - have you tried to just cut something (not contour cutting). Hitting the test button doesn't count because that doesn't require any interaction with the computer. Try just typing in text or importing a simple vector graphic and cut that. If it doesn't cut, let us know what does happen - is there an error, does Sign Blazer Elements (SBE) say that it's sending but you're not getting any response? How are connecting from PC to cutter? If you're connecting by USB, be sure that you are connecting directly from PC to cutter. No hubs, and try not to use a USB extension. In the cut screen settings, which cutter is selected? In the cut screen settings, which port is selected? I recommend that you take the time, and update your signature so that other forum members who are wiling to assist you aren't asking the same questions again and again. (i.e. cutter model, cutting software, PC or Mac, OS, connect type, etc.) -
do they come in 1440x900?

It's either fortunate or unfortunate that I remember most of my dreams, at least for a few days. Most of the time I'm dreaming, I'm fully aware that it is a dream... That's probably why I don't feel well rested no matter how much I sleep sometimes. Anyone believe that if you die in your dreams, you die in real life? Hmm... I've died more than a few times in my dreams ... yet I'm still here. So very bizarre. I'm always amazed and envious of others who don't remember their dreams at all. Wish I suffered from that ailment.
