  1. Ugh! That would be the one thing that I should have a spare of, but don't. I will get one ordered pronto, while I await a response from Graphtec support

Do a quick troll on YouTube and search for videos on how to layer vinyl.

    S&a creations

Aloha and welcome to the forum. If you take the time to register for it, your post will go up immediately, and registration is simple and free. I would help us to know what model cutter you have, or can you ask the person that you purchased it from?

    Clear Transfer Tape

Unfortunately, there might not be a 'perfect clear tape.' It's all about function and personal preference. Lots of user's here get the same results using different brand of tape. I'm not quite sure if I understand you correctly. After taping up your top layer, you are unable to remove the backing from the newly taped top layer?

    Greetings

Layers. Have you tried to ungroup it in VM and see if there are multiple instances of the graphic sitting one on top another?

  7. vector you image, and you should have an outline that is cut ready

    Why not correct?

Have you submitted a trouble ticket to VM?
  9. Thank you for keeping us updated. Glad that a fairly simple fix worked for you. The machines can be quite durable, but finicky at the same time. Some people have static issues, and some don't. If you're still willing, I would still consider getting the Graphtec. You won't be sorry you did, I know I wasn't.
  10. Get the 7000, but definitely hold on to the 6000.
  11. I'm a hobbyist with my cutters, and have always been a hobbyist (for 15+ years) . My original cutter was a LaserPoint (original), and then upgraded to a Graphtec about 3 years ago. Trust me, when I say, do the upgrade. Yes, it's an expense, but I also know that the stuff that I cut with my LaserPoint has paid for Graphtec long time ago. My only regret - I didn't get the Graphtec sooner. My original LaserPoint is still working, but the Graphtec works so much quicker, quieter, and more accurately.
  12. @New2022 If you don't mind, please keep us posted with your experience with the new (and improved) CE7000.
  13. If you can manage to find someone's New Old Stock of a CE6000 series, that might be worth looking into.

have you tried changing your USB cable? how far (or long) is your laptop from your cutter? are you using a USB hub?

New to the forum and to vinyl...

Aloha and welcome to the forum. Outside of the pending roller issue, the Graphtecs are solid machines.
  16. Make sure the correct comport is selected in your software.

You can recolor your white stripes to something else, you're using will vectorize it, or just add your own line pre or post vectorizing.

    New Here

I am fortunate to have an old mirror mounted to a door that's next to my cutters. I use it as my cutter notebook. I have the speed and force settings written on them, for each machine, and the different types of vinyl that I'm cutting.

    Advise needed for stencil material

if it's that big, and the graphic details were meant to be seen from way above, I don't think you really need to use a cutter. You can just mask with paper and tape, like they do on vehicles.

    New Here

Welcome! first and foremost, make sure you have the right blade depth. there are several ways to try and tighten it up - make sure your blade tip is in tact and not broken off (it can be mighty hard to see) slow the cut speed use a 60* blade for the more intricate cuts what type of vinyl are you cutting? what's the size of your font?
  21. congrats on the new equipment!

    Preferred app tape?

I'm in need of picking up some (most likely 24") app tape. My brother sold a job, and after working on the graphic layout, the most efficient layout has me doing the job on 24" vinyl. Not super happy, but cost wise, there's less wasted vinyl going this router instead of going with 15" vinyl. That being said, I'll be shipping in some 751, just as soon as they can choose the right color blue they want. Just wanted to know what y'all's preference is for app tape, and why? I've used Oracal MT and RTape medium tack, with each I got mixed results in tack, and peel. I'm hoping to find something a bit more consistent. TIA!

    Preferred app tape?

Good to know. I cut a few sample decals for them, just so they can double check to see if they want to run with the color they initially chose, and once I have either a confirmation on the chosen color, I'll be putting in my order. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that I can get the vinyl fast enough to give myself some time and not be in a complete rush to finish the job. The one and only store that sells vinyl locally only two 10-yard rolls. The only 751 50-yard rolls they carry are white, black, and red; all other colors are in 10-yard rolls, and they only two in stock. That's not even enough vinyl to put a dent in the order.

    Preferred app tape?

Thanks. I don't plan on holding on to them. It's just going to be a quick as possible turnaround time for me, then all 300 decals to the customer. I'm not sure how long it's going to sit on their shelves. Nothing I can do about that though. Sometimes I wish I had more business to turnover my inventory faster, but then I think it would feel more like a regular job and might suck all the fun out of it for me Clearly I've been self-employed way too long. Hahaha.

    Preferred app tape?

That being said, would it better to go medium tack, or high tack, if the customer hangs on to the decals for a while. I have no idea how they are distributing the decals, so there might be some shelf time after the final decals are delivered to them. When I use Oratape medium, on the roll, it only gets stickier and stickier as it gets older, because I don't have enough volume to go through rolls on a regular basis. So once those tapes get too ornery for me to use, it goes downstairs and is repurposed as masking/mock-up tape for my laser engravings.
