My initial assesment and continuing help thread

This shouldn't be an issue as long as the vinyl tracks properly and you aren't trying to cut outside of the capabilities of the machine (ie, most machines can only gurantee tracking so far etc) Also, pre-feeding the vinyl helps. If you pre-feed, this creates a "tread" pattern in the vinyl itself with the grit rollers and it will feed along that line each time in and out. Yes, I would tend to agree cutting order optimization is helpful- but even with my old laserpoint it wasn't necessary.

    NOT VINYL

Yes it does actually- very similar then to how backlit or channel letters are installed then directly to the surface of a building face when no backing is used.

    NOT VINYL

How are those attached to the brick facing? Also what do you use for registration and alignment on a project like that?

What US CUTTER will be the best one for me...

Please ask, I got to where I am today thanks to this forum SOLELY - I am more than willing to help as are many folks on here.

What US CUTTER will be the best one for me...

No, the epson came later, because I had the option with my cutter to contour cut.... I picked it up about 4 months later. I still use it to this day- just produced a prototype of a bumper sticker for a customer to see before printing it on the solvent machine I have access to (Mutoh 64") It's a waste to run that big beast for a single.

Announcing Sure Cuts A Lot Pro

Mine was at no cost to me- with the intent of offering support and aid in further development as well as thorough reviews for USCutter and the folks here on the forums... And no, maybe not the next big thing- but a viable replacement to a slowly and dying SBE. Other senior members of this forum agree the SBE either needs developed, or replaced as it is antiquated and ultimately will not support new file types. The shops I work with all maintain current copies of Corel, Adobe CS, Flexi and other basic softwares like this just so they have to the compatible tools to work with customer files. If everyone thought it was a chore than nothing would ever grow and get to where it is. Ask John about SignBlazer's humble beginnings and the work Jerry put forth to make it what it was before he passed. At some point a replacement MUST start in the beginning stages, with bugs, erros and other issues. You're either on the wagon, or not... Regardless of what anyone paid- it carries a value of what it would cost you to get it right here and now- which is $199.99.

What US CUTTER will be the best one for me...

Take a watch at this threezzz It will give a comprehensive breakdown of what each machine will do. Basic first, then after- more advanced. My input is buy the best you can afford as to not limit yourself in any way. The MH some have used with great success. Others prefer the SC or TC cutters, just depends what ALL you plan on doing. If you wish to perform contour cutting, for printed materials such as inkjet transfers, t-shirt heat press transfers as well as dye sublimation then you will definitely want to shake your wallet in the direction of a basic MH or SC like Slice uses. If you'd like to eventually venture into the unknown and new stuff then go for a Laserpoint. Again, buy the best you can afford. I started with a Laserpoint 1 even though I thought I wasn't sure I would need it and ended up using that feature to pay for it even faster (2 weeks) and in 8 months I was buying a graphtec instead that is run daily. Now I have 3. Just my 2 cents.

I work 2 jobs. Full time at a day job, and full time at home on vinyl. I help with whatever I can, and enjoy it. If you're too busy producing work for clients, then how is it you find time to scoop the forums for info and post pictures of your work? It's called extra-curricular as well as self-education. You act as if it is a chore to help make something great.... I got a piece of $200 software to test, give my honest and thorough input on, as well as learn the software fully to help support other users here on the forum for no cost to me. I am sure that I can return my moneys' worth to USCutter and the Dev by offering whatever input I can to make the software successful instead of just complaining it didn't work for me right out of the package. Obviously I am filling customer orders as well, or I would not be in business. I have a wrap that's going up the week after next, and prepping this week for a weekend long show that I fully intend on netting a fair bit of profit. To each is their own- if it is a waste of your time, don't act like others' are wasting theirs trying to make something better for everyone else.... I would be happy to take your copy off your hands for my troubles if you're "done" with SCAL Pro.

I agree. Then again- your own statement about why limit yourself... ok- why limit it? The laser alignment allows that option later. You can buy printable vinyl for use in any inkjet printer for short term and craft use items...

    Corel 12 on Windows 7

Probably so- even in compatibility mode you may run into issues. Also, more features are added. A copy of X3 (13) can be had for reasonably cheap even thru USCutter.

Slice- how do you know he won't be using the laser function?? With SCAL and other softwares- maybe the OP will want to do contour cutting!!!?? Go for the LP2

Valid point Roger... I also will second the intent of continued development! Like I've said on other posts, I have been working with developers directly myself with great success and advancement. Just you wait and see what that software will do, and keep adding to the list of things SBE wont do- ie. Rhinestones, print/cut for most cutters and that is just a start.

    SC34 SignCut Pro issue

Once the driver is installed- you have to look in your device manager and make sure you know what port number it is (each USB port you plug it into will populate a different port number) and then from there make sure the bit-rate and partiy is set properly.

    SC34 SignCut Pro issue

The gigaware USB cable is actually one of the most capable. It just has to be setup correctly. I have used them for the past 2 years without fail as they are easy to acquire, here in town at the local Rat-shack. That being said, Keyspan devices are compatible with just about anything, but if you can't get one, or don't have time- the gigaware usb cable works great. I used one with my LP24 for the entire time I had it with no issues.

    Anyone using Cameo?

They offer a 30 day on most machines if I remember. Should not be a big deal at all. The other machines all come with SCAL Pro and SignCut as well for cutting softwares. IMHO you'd be happier. For the price I would shoot for a little more if you can.

    Anyone using Cameo?

It would be completely different softwares. Where did you buy the cameo?

    Anyone using Cameo?

Have you tried using it with SCAL Pro and Exporting from Corel?
  18. vinylmotivations

    no issues

Their main office is located in Sweden (SignCut Pro and Whisque)

    Coupon code?

I had to go see for myself- Where are you seeing THOSE prices!?!? A roll I just saw was 30+$
  20. vinylmotivations

    Coupon code?

After that discount, however, the prices are usually a lot more than USCutter... and so you shop there once and thats the end. USCutter strives to offer the lowest prices and best product period... so you don't NEED discounts and other coupon codes and bs. However, they do put things on sale once in a while- so keep your eyes peeled as they are often really good deals.
  21. vinylmotivations

    no issues

One of the benefits to SCAL Pro over SignCut is it is made right here in the USofA.... SignCut is developed and supported across a large body of water. I forget where off the top of my head.

Im confused! Whats the latest version of corel draw?...Because...

CS2 is MUCH MUCH newer than Corel 9. I wouldn't waste your time with Corel 9. Now if you had an oppertunity to buy a newer version, I would say you might like to have it as another tool or to understand both. Illy is a very capable program and some exclusively use it.
  23. vinylmotivations

    no issues

You can do alignment marks by placing a square, then one of the alignment color needed of the same size directly on top.

Graphtec CE5000-60 up and cutting WITH WEEDING LINES!

Another small update working with Craft Edge! CE5000 is cutting in HPGL and GPGL modes as well as Contour Cutting in GPGL. Craft Edge is working on contour for HPGL as well as, having gotten an FC7000 machine to cut, fine tuning that as well! I am looking forward to really punching this software into solid use for basic jobs!
