DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted July 1, 2016 My buddy wants to wrap his tank. I've never done this before so. Would 751 be the right stuff? Little heat little stretching and should be ok....right? *nervous*
Command 97 Posted July 1, 2016 Get some wrap vinyl like Oracal 970 or Hexis HX 20000. Wrapping a tank can be challenging even with wrap vinyl because it is nothing but complex curves. 751 Is not going to work on a tank. It is possible to wrap *something* with 751 as a "poor mans" wrap, but its totally the wrong material and only good for flat surfaces.
DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted July 1, 2016 Ahhh....great. They don't make 970 for my little cutter.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted July 1, 2016 Ahhh....great. They don't make 970 for my little cutter. if you are going to "wrap" it you won't be cutting it till you trim after applying -
DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted July 1, 2016 If there's a picture I can't see it from my work.

DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted July 5, 2016 I should be more clear...it's not a "wrap" per say...but flames. So it's not the entire thing. So 751 should be ok from what I read. ya?
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted July 5, 2016 I would still step it up to 951 were it me.
DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted July 6, 2016 When using said vinyl...do you use transfer tape? I guess it depends on what your doing.
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted July 6, 2016 With cut vinyl you'll need transfer tape and that is where the compound curves will get tricky.
DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted July 7, 2016 Unless I install it wet. That shouldn't be a problem. I hope.
