Best place to buy vinyl

Recommended Posts

Rodger, I must say, I really appreciate the support. I am going to go against the grain a bit here. It is against our rules to put competitor information, but we are pretty lenient with this rule. The primary reason for the rule is so that we can be proactive about removing posts that we think are coming from competitor plants, and even that said, as Rodger has eluded to, we are a lazy about removing any posts and pretty much leave that up to John. I really want this forum to be a great forum for all sign makers regardless of whether you are our customer. Having a great forum with our name in it is enough to justify the effort and the cost of bandwidth. I don't want to give anyone a reason to go elsewhere, so the rules are meant to support our forum rather than us. This isn't open season for brining on competitor's posts, but an occasional question like this can be met with critical answers.

I am confident in our capability as a business and our business model. I think that even if we allow posts about competitors (but not 'by' our biased competitors), we will win in almost every category for product quality / price and if we are not, we need an invitation to do better.

And for clarification on the shipping locations: We now ship more than half our product from Memphis. Most sign vinyl to the eastern part of the US will ship from Memphis and it will be 1-2 days ground shipping anywhere south or north up to New York (3 day). This is regardless of whether you order from USCutter.com or SignUniverse.com. We unfortunately have a manual method of determining where product is shipped from, and it is not always the ideal location. We are taking steps to turn this into an automated process and it should improve the situation drastically in the near future.

Marcus...I just had a customer ask for CLEAR coroplast. I can get it if I want to buy minimum 10 full sheets...any chance USC might consider carrying it in smaller sizes? I think it would go well.

I try to keep postings off of here that are Blatant attempts by competitors..but normally don't delete posts that are helpful to someone who needs something specific that USC doesn't carry, or needs it faster than USC can provide it.

A good example would be if someone needed just 10 or 20 coroplast, or needed 24x36 coroplast. USC doesn't list the 24x36 at all, and lists the 18x24 only in lots of 100.

I use a LOT of the 24x36...so I have to go elsewhere. This is just an example. But, mostly what I need I can get at USC.

That being said..I am just one guy and I can't read every single post and sometimes I miss something. It's all I can do to control the porn posts and Viagra ads on some days.

this is true - as shown by the growth of the business.

The review of a machine is WAY off base from the subject . I agree , a realistic honest review is what benefits everybody ( integrity & honesty is beneficial  ). Promoting products ( specifically vinyl that USCutter sells ) to be bought from a company other than USCutter on USCutter's forum is what I consider disrespectful . Put yourself in the position of having a forum & members doing that . I would warn anybody & delete the post/thread . Try to post something like that on a forum owned by any other company that sells those products & see what happens . I bet it won't be there 4 long . USCutter either does not monitor the forum close enough or does not bother to interfere  They have asked for members NOT to do that !!! To take advantage of the benefits of this forum for whatever reason each member does & then to use bandwidth to advertise competitors is something I would want brought to my attention if I had posted something like that .. just in case I had not thought of it as a business owned forum . Not like it is the McDonald's dining room in the am where I see many discussing all sort of things . Being a guest here should cause everybody to show respect , not disrespect . Hmmm I wonder if the people I see in the McDonald's dining area in the am , would wear Burger King shirts , promote Burger King & still expect free refills of coffee  I think the manager if worth a damn , would ask them to leave at once & not ever do that again ... I would .

not sure how I even got involved in this one - I think sleep deprivation. I didn't even have anything to say about vinyl . . . . . I'll go lay down now

by the way I think mcd's would love the burger king employees to eat there in the morning - would make a great statement!tongue.gif

I have always gotten most of my supplies form USC, and enjoyed the 1-2 day turnaround (live in Oregon), along with the good pricing. Unfortunately I just placed a smaller order of 5 rolls, and they got shipped from Tenn :( I guess I got spoiled, and now having to wait a week is making me pout. I will still order 90% of my vinyl from USC due to pricing, and I have always gotten help from them whenever needed.

Interesting perspective I did not think of . I agree , I'm sure McDonalds would like to see something being bought & eaten , but just to hang out & promote the competition ... homey don't think so . :)

Well, with everything said I can say. I wouldn't have a business or do any wheres near the quality or quantity of work I do now if it where not for this forum. I work from home, my shop is mainly everyone's else's garage in the past, taking my trusty Copam with me wherever I go, cutting on site for customers. I just recently got into my first commercial space, a 30 x 40 1 door garage with water running over the floor and leaks in the ceiling. But hey, It's a start. Plus it's cheap and affordable and has a heater. USC and my Copam 2500 got me here, even without the garage I still do plenty of business. I will definitely be ordering vinyl from USC in the future. As well as my future expansion into t-shirts and sublimation. My supplier's can't compete with the 9.99 shipping and I guess I will just make sure it ships from Tenn if possible. I am currently going for this as a business now, (in the past more of a hobby) and look forward to using USC products, services and this forum in the future.

i think it is a lot different if someone like this person asks where the best place to buy vinyl is versus someone starting a post saying screw UScutter go buy your vinyl at xxx place, or another sign company coming on here trying to promote themselves.. he just wants peoples opinions on where they think the best place is. should people just tell him to screw off they can't tell him cuz it isnt UScutter or lie and say to buy it from UScutter even though that isnt their choice.

i think UScutter should have a backbone about their business and not worry over someone saying i like to get my vinyl from _______. if they believe in their business model then they will have no worries that the business will keep rolling into them.

but i will say i used to purchase my vinyl(oracal 651 mostly) from ordway sign supply. they recently made a big jump in price on it so i will be giving uscutter a shot on it as they do have a really good price on it.
