    Mh721 Possible weak/intermittent carrier?

I had an issue with my MH721 that started with intermittent cutting issues that progressed to not cutting at all. Found the ribbon cable to the carriage had pulled out. Here is a link to my original thread on this but the photo links are dead. Might be worth checking on yours, sounds like a similar issue.

    VINYL GLITTER CUTTING SEETINGS

I can't help you with the settings but when I tried to cut the stuff it made a horrible mess, glitter flaked off and plugged up my blade holder, glad I didn't invest in a lot of it.

    Silver Reflective?

I did some Googling and the only retrorefective I came up with is this printable vinyl on Alibaba https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/commercial-silver-printable-retro-reflective-vinyl_1001136376.html I could have sworn our ambulances had silver retroreflective in the graphics but for the life of me I can't find any on line either.

Hello all! I have been lurking on here for a couple months and thought it was time to register. The wife and I are in the process of starting a new business. Our primary function will eventually be a retail plant nursery also offering garden art, custom signs and stickers. I recently purchased a 28" MH Cutter and an entry level swing away heat press from Ebay. We will be concentrating on the signs and stickers until we get to a permanent location for the business. A bit about us. I (Mike) am a Field Engineer with HP Indigo and also trained on Scitex and Pagewide (formerly IHPS). I was lead R&D tech on the HP T400 InkJet web press through alpha and beta testing. Hobbies are metal and woodworking, ham radio, our dogs, water gardening and home beer brewing among other things. I am a former medic for a medium sized ambulance company (10 years) also have worked in Law Enforcement, locksmithing and twisting wrenches on most things that move. The wife (Jeanette) is a long time nurse in both ICU/CCU and Emergency Room, she has also worked in nursing management and education. She enjoys gardening, cooking and craft projects. I wish to thank everyone on here for the wealth of information provided and hope that I will be able to contribute in some small way.

    making straight lines

I couldn't figure out how to snap lines in VM, not sure it has that feature. I have been doing that stuff in Inkscape and transferring to VM. I too would like to know if that is possible.

US Cutter MH1351 MK2 cutter is acting up

Could this be a static issue? Have the machine well grounded? Although not a cutter issue but with my sheet-fed printing press customers as the air gets colder, making the inside air dryer we see a LOT more static issues with print quality and paper transport. Higher humidity will help mitigate some issues with static electricity.

    B 29 Superfortress Silhouette Request

That is correct! DOC just recently became airworthy after restoration. They are quite a machine! There are a few on static display....Dad's old bird is one of the survivors on static display at Barksdale AFB from his days in the 582nd Resupply and Communications wing. He has some great Cold War stories and they also did some things that he still can't talk about today.

    B 29 Superfortress Silhouette Request

Hi all. Google has not been much help for me on this one. I would like to make a decal for my father, he was a radio operator during the 1950's on the B29 "My Gal Sal" out of Wheelus AFB in Tripoli (he was present for the US withdrawal of Libya). I am looking for a silhouette of a B29 that will make a decent vinyl decal set for him to honor his service. The files I have found have been too small to be a useable size. I am hoping that someone on here might have a file that could be used. Thanks in advance!
  15. Posted in this sub forum as I don't see an MH sub forum Interesting and frustrating problem with my new (about 2 weeks old) MH 721. I have been happily cutting away (as we would say in the metalworking hobby "making chips"). Tonight my MH started having an issue with not cutting to depth on the right hand side of the tool (carriage home side). After playing with pressure settings and blade depth it stopped dropping the carriage all together. Kind of frustrating. After exhausting the limited troubleshooting info in the manual I went to Google.....still didn't find an answer for my particular issue......time to break out the screwdrivers. I started opening panels one at a time. At removing the right hand side panel I sighted down the access hole in the X axis channel and spotted a loose ribbon cable (ah ha! found the problem). Pic of cable pulled to the access hole Now,,,,how to fix this..... I pulled the left-hand cover and fished the ribbon cable to that.....no dice....my fat fingers wouldn't be able to access the cable and plug. Pulled the 4 screws on the top panel (that the control pad is mounted to) and fed some slack in the ribbon cables feeding the control panel to move it out of the way and......success! I was able to access the carriage PC board and get the cable seated and locked. I gave a few good tugs on the cable and it seems to be locked into the PC board well. I can only surmise that the plug retainer wasn't properly seated from the factory. If anyone else runs into this issue I hope this can help shorten your downtime.

    Cool job I fell into!

Totally cool. My brother in law races NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle, when I told my sister that I was set up for vinyl cutting she said I should expect some work for his bike by next season. Exciting to see your work on TV
