  3. I would also say that only the blue line is selected Using your photos, click the icon by the red arrow and it will fill the screen with your design By clicking and holding the the icon by the green arrow the fly out menu will show shapes (circle rectangle star) but on the end will be the registration marks. You can design with the flag horizontal but rotate it in the production manager by clicking the icon of the human figure under the blue arrow.

    Oramask 813 too sticky?

I've used the Oramask 813 and you're right it is sticky. I've also got some Oramask 810S Translucent Grey and found it to be less sticky. I use the 813 on enamel (Krylon) painted steel. When I tried the 810S on the enamel painted steel it didn't stick to well. maybe it will work for you on the Gesso'd Board. I know in the description that Oramask 813 is specified to be used with water based paints but it works fine with the enamel paint. Oramask 810S is specified to be used with solvent paints but it couldn't get it to stick well to the enamel paint. Welcome to the forum. Doug

    Completely flummoxed

Steve, Steve, Steve. Wait just a minute. First off the guy in the video is not drilling into the machine. He is using a battery powered drill with a Philips screwdriver bit to turn the screws. The holes are already drilled into the frame and base of the machine. You can use #2 Philips screw driver to assemble the stand and to attach the wire. You can use an Xacto knife to cut the insulation off of the end of the wire and scrape a little paint off of the stand and machine. Scraping the paint will give a better electrical connection between the frame and machine. The wire that is being attached is to discharge static electricity that builds up by the vinyl running across the metal and plastic parts of the machine. Kind of like when you scuff your feet on the carpet then touch the door knob or get a load of sweaters out of the dryer and pull them apart. The reason you have to discharge the static electricity, is because it will cause the machine to make cuts in the vinyl that you don't want. I hope this helps, now go put that cutter and stand together.

    Hi from Kate in Florida

Hello Kate from Florida. I would have to agree with most here that have mentioned the Graphtec plotter. They are very good machines. That said you mentioned that you used a Cricut Maker. I believe they can be used to cut all the way through card stock and some plastic sheets used in scrap booking. Any of the vinyl plotters that are mentioned are strictly for cutting through vinyl and not the backing paper. Welcome to the forum.

    Cost for vehicle lettering

Don't forget to figure in the time it took for the layout or design, converting the logo from a JPG to a vector image or the numerous times the customer called to change the design. I live in Florida and pretty much use Oracle 951 for everything.

    Hi Everyone!

Hello and Welcome, I have to agree with all the others and say that I'd go with the Graphtec. I started out about 10 years ago. I looked at the "Value Cutters" then a Summa D-60 became available. I picked it up used and have been using it ever since. I bought mine used and have had no regrets. It's paid for it's self many times over. When I received my cutter I had no vinyl to practice with so I went to the local orange box store and picked up some adhesive backed shelf paper. I had to try it out and couldn't wait for some vinyl to arrive.

    HP Cutter Blades

You're right, they don't cut all the way out to the edge. My Summa will cut about 13.5" on a 15" wide roll and about 22.5" on a 24" wide roll. You'll also need a little extra on the top end to keep the sensor covered. But on the up side they do track very well. Do you use the Media Flanges? They really help with the tracking.

My Summa D60 is actually badged a Neuhause Vector 6.0, Bade in Belguim. So I'm guessing that Summa will manufacture and sell under different names.

Wow, My micrometer is off I rechecked it with another an it's reading .0585 on the diameter and .0754 on the length. Sorry about that. Doug

I have a Summa D60 I corrected an error in a micrometer reading below. Doug
  19. Cardudenc I know what you mean about parts being expensive. I needed a power supply for my vinyl cutter and went to the manufacturer they wanted big bucks for it. After looking at the power supply I saw that it was manufactured buy a 3rd party. I took the manufactures name and model number off of the power supply and found a new one on eBay for $22.00. Keep that in mind when searching for electronics. Good luck if you decide to purchase the Graphtecs. Doug

    Hi all, new here

Hello and welcome to the forum. There is a lot of talent, helpful and friendly people on this site. I started out with a used Summa D60 vinyl cutter and that was 10 years ago. It still does everything I need it to do. It tracks well, I have cut vinyl N numbers for helicopters that are 6 feet in length. I have also used it to cut instrument panels for model airplanes. Good luck with your venture and once again welcome.
