Laserpoint 24 randomly powers down

Recommended Posts

I've got a laserpoint 24.  A few months old.  Lightly used.

It's been working great until today.

It seems to randomly shut down.  It's done it both in the middle

of jobs and while powered up, but idling.

Two times it was more of hiccup, you could hear the fan stop, then

start again.  Of course it stops the job.

One time it stopped completely, I had to turn it off, then back on.

I took the side cover (power side) looking for any obvious loose

wires.  All look solid.

It's not on a stand, just on a table.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe remove the bottom panel and check the connections to the power supply as well. It should be secured to the bottom panel on the left side of the unit (looking at it from the front).

Ken, Went out to take your advise.  While I was thinking about

taking off the bottom plate I had turned on the cutter to see if

it would power off.  After a few minutes it shut down.

This time I was unable to power it up.  Dead.

At this point I removed the bottom plate.  No obvious loose

wires.

I reassembled the bottom plate.  Still won't power up.

I tested the plug to make sure there was power.

Of course I've got jobs lined up.

Any ideas?

Do you have it plugged directly in the wall or in a power strip?

If in a power strip, you may be overloading and it will kick off.

I know it sounds redundant but, make sure you have it unplugged when checking the wires.

I'm sure you know that already but, you know somewhere out there, someone didn't and got jolted :)
