kburk 2 Posted September 7, 2008 Hello, new here for starters. So I have a copam cp-4050 with serial and a keyspan USB addaptor. I'm runnig the SingCut-x2 and know very little about cutting. My cutter responds with a motion but nothing,l I can test cut on the cutter but it is like it is not talking to my computer. I have vista also if that matters. Any help would be great. Also I should add it is a used cutter and I did not get any software with it. I would really like to get it going but right now it is just a fancy paper weight. Thanks Keith
kburk 2 Posted September 7, 2008 Can anyone suggest another spot I might get help for this??? Too many hours, too much frustration, is there any help out there??
BillJernigan 0 Posted September 7, 2008 It sounds like the same problem I and another user is having with the 2500 model. I'm just guesing here, but it seems to be a communication problem between Signcut x2 and the serial/usb driver -> copam . Since it's the weekend, they guys that know better than I probably can't respond till a week day, but I tried using a trial version of Sign Tools 3 ( http://www.grs-systems.com/images/signtools_downloads.htm ) and it was able to work successfully with the copam. I noticed that in Signcut x2 when you are setting up the cutter it asks for a specific brand and model #, so my guess is perhaps there is some change in firmware for the newer copams ( my copam has a usb port, but there is no mention of one on copam's website or the uscutter website). Maybe there is some slight change to the recently manufactured models that is causing the problem with Signcut X2? Like I said, I'm just guessing right now, but you may want to try the demo of Sign Tools - it put my mind at ease for the time being just to know that the copam does infact work. It tried altering many of the settings in the com port setup and in the Sign Cut x2 cutter setup to see if it would help, but none seemed to work so far. I'm hoping when the normal support guys get back to work they can help. Bill
kburk 2 Posted September 7, 2008 Bill thanks for the responce I have tried reinstalling all my software and drivers and I have looked for other driver also. I was thinking it would be like hooking up a printer HA! not so much. I have a lot to learn. I beveive it is a driver issue but I'm not sure What i can't beleive is the lack of tec support? Besides this forum It seems like there is very little for this type of thing? Well anyhow thanks Keith
kburk 2 Posted September 8, 2008 Copam emailed me to tady to say "please use windows" What does that mean??? because I have Vista on my laptop I can't use my cutter?? I don't get it. I also tryed the tec support on Sign cut but it failed to go, it just bounced back to me. There got to be a way to get this going, can any one suggest a place to get tec support?? I really need this cutter up and running!!
