    New COPAM 2500 won't cut

I'm using Windows XP service pack 2. It's the "Media Center Edition", which to my understanding is the same as XP pro. Bill

Apreciate it. I can wait till you get a response as I've got 3 other avenues as far as software goes that I can use to hold me over. I believe you were the person from tech support I had spoken with on the phone today (9/9) and you were going to try and call back later when I was in front of the computer. You can hold off on that and I'll wait to find out what you hear from the Signcut guys. Thanks again for your help. Bill

When I press the "cut measure square" it still reacts the same- advances the media about an inch then stops. The measurements are set to "300 mm" ( or 11.811 inches) for both width and length. When I use the demo of Sign Tools3 it cuts with out problems, so I know I've got the com port set up correctly and have a good usb cable and a proper install of the serial to usb driver. I've also made sure the com port settings in Signcut x2 match those in the comm port setup in device manager. also, I'm using windows xp for the record and have the copam initialized to cut a sheet, not roll. When I switch it to roll, I get the same problem. I've also tried using com 3, com 5 and so on. still same reaction in signcut x2, but works flawlessly in sign tools3. update- I downloaded the trial for Signblazer elements and it works fine also. Just can't get it to work with sign cut x2. Bill
  4. It sounds like the same problem I and another user is having with the 2500 model. I'm just guesing here, but it seems to be a communication problem between Signcut x2 and the serial/usb driver -> copam . Since it's the weekend, they guys that know better than I probably can't respond till a week day, but I tried using a trial version of Sign Tools 3 ( http://www.grs-systems.com/images/signtools_downloads.htm ) and it was able to work successfully with the copam. I noticed that in Signcut x2 when you are setting up the cutter it asks for a specific brand and model #, so my guess is perhaps there is some change in firmware for the newer copams ( my copam has a usb port, but there is no mention of one on copam's website or the uscutter website). Maybe there is some slight change to the recently manufactured models that is causing the problem with Signcut X2? Like I said, I'm just guessing right now, but you may want to try the demo of Sign Tools - it put my mind at ease for the time being just to know that the copam does infact work. It tried altering many of the settings in the com port setup and in the Sign Cut x2 cutter setup to see if it would help, but none seemed to work so far. I'm hoping when the normal support guys get back to work they can help. Bill

Well it's got to be a problem with the sign cut x2 software. I just tried the demo version of Sign Tools3 and tried a cut thru Correl and it worked.

I've got the exact same problem. Just received my Copam - it has a usb port next to the serial and parrallel ports. Using singcut x2 software. It will do the test cuts through the copam lcd panel, but when I try and do a cut via the signcut software, it just advances the vinyl an inch and that's it. I'm not able to try parallel connection as my computer doesn't have one. It's definately some communication problem. I'd love to hear if there's a fix for this, it's unusable right now. Bill
