arching text

Recommended Posts

Guest TracMatt

When I arc my text one side is always lower than the rest.  It isn't even.  When I try to node edit the text the arc goes away so it defeats the purpost.  Any ideas?

I just did one to arch above a spare tire.  I found it impossible to get straight AFTER initial arching.  But, you "should" see a dotted line going across from one node to the other as you begin to move each node.  It will look jagged if not straight and smooth if equal.

Hope this makes sense.

I don't see a dotted line, so how would I get it to show up?  Even when I move one node it isn't there.

Are you ...entering text.  then select text, then Manipulate  then Distortion and then Arc?

No, entering text then going up to text tab then arching it.

Okay here is just the word that I am trying to balance out over a flame.  I accidentally lost the flame and didn't want to go through all that again to post it, so this is just the word.  You can see how it is not evenly arched.

Guess I just got used to using the Manipulate, Distortion, and  arc.

I will try that in a minute and see if it works better.

I see what you mean. If nothing else works, create you text then rotate it so it's even. Looks like a glitch in the software of the font.

I tried it too, my letters seemed to go smaller at the bottom then the top.  Which arc did you use once into the distort section?

Jay,

Isn't that weird?

When I arc the word "testing" for example, I notice that the bottom of the "g" sticks down a bit further than the bottom of the "T", but this is because the bottom part of the "g" should be below the line anyhow, just as if you were writing it on notebook paper. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Also, are you selecting centeer when arcing? Default is  Left justified, and it should be center justified, unless you want it left justified.

I did open your file, and I see what you mean. What I posted previously has nothing to do with what you got going on.....not sure.

Ken,

Right I know what you mean, that happens when I set up a file for embroidery also.  This was totally different.

I am going to have to learn to use the distortion, arc thing I guess.  Lots of practice.

I'm sure there is lots of stuff this software does that I don't even know it is capable of doing  ;D.

Tracee,

I loaded your's and see what you mean.  Short solution is to rotate slightly aligning with grid line.  Funny thing,,,I changed font to Arial (cyr) and the line is balanced.  ;D?  Didn't try anymore

Using Distort, I see what you said about making bottom of text slightly smaller.  I never noticed that (probably because of using large radius).

I think like Ken said, use the text along curve but rotate it after you create it so that it's even.

the only recommendation I would make would be to get a copy of Corel Draw X3.

It does everything you need and then some... Im not familiar with SignBlazer, I

use SignCut X2 myself for the cutting app.
