I cannot get this USB to work, nor can I get the serial cable working

Hello,

I took it out of the box, I did exactly what the instructions say to do. It will not work. I am using an IBM Thinkpad T41. I have two USB ports and one serial port.

I have tried install the WY-388 driver, doesn't work. I installed the SignCut, it won't see the 2500 plotter/cutter.

Any suggestions? I have been here working on this thing for over 2 hours, will not do a thing.
