nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 OK so I have a question. I have not been working much with my cutter due to personal problems but recently have started back up. Well, now when I move my blade to adjust it, the numbers on the display become weird and the display shows +0 then I'll have to press reset. Of course when I try to cut now, it stops at the beginning then moves the blade way back while cutting the vinyl. Any ideas what may have happened? I have had the PCUT for several years and has never given me any problems.
Jburns 239 Posted October 16, 2014 When you say "move my blade to adjust" are you are using the arrows in the X Y axis screen, to place the carriage in a certain position? Or are you talking about blade depth. Before you send a file to be cut, does the cutter menu say "online"?
nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 Yes using the arrows in the X Y axis screen to place the carriage in position and yes it does say online.
101LEDs 100 Posted October 16, 2014 Was it plugged in when it was sitting unused?
Jburns 239 Posted October 16, 2014 Try pressing reset button, and watch it page thru model and firmare version. Once to online, I would open and try sending a brand new file- whatever software you have just write the word "test" an inch or so in height, and see if that sends ok. After sending such a command, tell us what happens
nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 Yes it was plugged in when not in use for a couple months. I wont say it was completely unused during that time, just now very often, about once a month. Ok as far as reset button, which button are you talking about? There is one on the left of the carriage and one on the right of the carriage?
Jburns 239 Posted October 16, 2014 the reset button that says reset- its on top of the cutter- next to the arrows you use to place the carriage.
nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 Oh that reset button, yes I used that, several times. So now when I hit the online button to move it back to the home position, when it gets home, instead of it showing online on the display like it always did before, now its numbers that make no sense at all. UGH, so frustrating
Jburns 239 Posted October 16, 2014 I think I got it. The numbers it is showing are an X Y axis location. Try this: 1. When you see those numbers, use the left right arrows to place the carriage to whatever place you want to call home, or start position. 2. Once it is where you want it, hit the center button that looks like a target. Then you should see: X+0.00 and Y+0.00. This is your NEW start postion. 3. Press " Online button". You should then see the word online. 4. Try the test cut file again.
Jburns 239 Posted October 16, 2014 Note- most start positions have the carriage on the right side.
nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 No its still not working. It seems like the cutter is not reading the axis correctly. I hit the online button and instead of showing online, it still shows number that make no sense. Then sometimes before it gets to the home position, it slows down really slow and almost has a grinding sound. I have had this cutter for about 6 years and never had problems like this. I hope its not time to get another one. Its been really good for me.
Jburns 239 Posted October 16, 2014 Ok..The grinding sound is a problem . Can you at least Zero the postion, or show X+0.00 and Y+0.00 with the center target button?
101LEDs 100 Posted October 16, 2014 I was starting to wonder about power surges or spikes since so many people report problems after sitting for awhile or even overnight.
nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 I can get to the 0 position and it will show online the first time. However, when I move it around and then hit the online button again, it goes back to home, but it will not show online, it has some weird numbers and the numbers are never the same. And when I try to cut something out, it starts ok but then the cutter moves way off cut like the axis is off.

Wildgoose 4,200 Posted October 16, 2014 Been a while since I had my P-Cut but I am pretty sure you have to zero out BEFORE you go back to online or it ignores where you set the cutting head and goes back to where zero used to be. I would set the blade where I wanted it and go through the sequence to double check the pressure and speed and when it came around to X&Y I would zero it out and then push online and it was ready to send a file at that point. nmpeters 0 Posted October 16, 2014 Wildgoose, what do you mean zero it out at X&Y? I have reset it at the home point and it does come back to that point, however, when I hit online, there are odd numbers showing up on the screen instead of just ONLINE. MZ SKEETER 4,709 Posted October 16, 2014 US cutter tech support is open....Give them a call...
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted October 17, 2014 I just mean set the cutting head where you want it and then change the x & y coordinates to zero. Your head should not move from there when you go to online. If you are getting weird numbers then there is probably something wrong.
