Need help on Weld feature in Sign Blazer

I have a logo that I'm trying to cut in heat press vinyl and I can't get it to weld. It's a compass star with two circles that pass through the points of the compass. I'm trying to delete the portions of the circle that pass through the points so it can be cut out all in one piece without the extra cuts. I've tried weld, total weld, and combine objects and nothing is working.

This logo was drawn in SB. I think that maybe the problem is that the star isn't being recognized as an object (I can't get the program to fill the star with different colors - I can only change the outline color.)

The attached file is in wire frame view.

OK, so this is really a newbie thing--I can't get the file to upload! I thought I had it when I posted the question, then I just tried again and it won't attach.

Can you tell me what I was doing wrong? I've had problems with the weld function before.

No problem. Glad to help.

I ended up redoing the design. Not much to it really. For the single color made the circles then welded them, then added the star on top of the circles, select the entire object and then click total weld.
