Swfla1 0 Posted March 26, 2011 Hi all - I've been a member for a short time - spending most of it reading. Now I have an issue with my MH871 - Yesterday it was cutting fine and had zero issues, today it won't cut a complete file. It starts correctly, then it comes to a stop and doesn't start again. I've rebooted everything, prefed the vinyl, cleaned the knife, used a different cable, tried different settings in SB. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Unfortunately, I brought it from Florida to Ohio to help my brother with some signs and am leaving Monday AM, so I'm kinda under the gun here and am open to any suggestions. It's a MH871 with SB software, running windows 7 home premium. Any ideas that I can try? Thanks!

Swfla1 0 Posted March 27, 2011 You using serial or usb connection? I'm using usb with some inline filter, the same cable i've used for the past couple of months without issue. (thanks for responding, I'm heading back to the store in a few minutes)
hockeygirl 30 Posted March 28, 2011 Is it stopping at around the same place everytime. If this file larger (or more detailed) than what you've cut in the past?
Swfla1 0 Posted March 29, 2011 Hi - yes, it is stopping at the same place but I have cut much larger than this. I'm cutting an 18 x 30 graphic that is very simmple line art. It seems to cut smaller signs and graphics ok. I finally had to get back to Florida, so I told him I'd keep trying and send him the graphics if I could get it done. Thanks for your help. hockeygirl 30 Posted March 29, 2011 If it stops at the same place every time, it's prob a memory issue

Swfla1 0 Posted March 29, 2011 So even though I've cut about 6 rolls of 24 inch vinyl with it in the last two months without any issues, it would all of a sudden start acting up and need the keyspan or memory? (it's grounded already) I would think that an issue with memory or lack of keyspan would have surfaced the first week. I'm not cutting any files that are larger than anything else I've cut. Oh well, I'll try it tomorrow and if it acts up I'll start with the memory chip, then the keyspan.... then a different cutter. Thanks for your help.

It can still be static, there is alot of static coming off those rolls of vinyl, dry house.etc. Some people also put a dryer sheet in the roll of vinyl or wipe their vinyl with it Wipe down the cutter with Static Guard or spray it around Run the same order that your trying to run, and take the blade holder out, or raise it enough to not cut, See what happens. See if it finishes the order then...

Rodger 527 Posted March 30, 2011 When you are saying you ghave cut bigger files , are you meaning a larger decal or more nodes ( more complicated & filling the memory up ) I would do the memory upgrade anyway .
