how to make text "include" stroke when exporting to sign cut

I'm trying to design some two layer graphics, basically letters with an outline.  How do I get the "stroke" to show up when exporting to sign cut.  Right now the letters are 3" with a .250 stroke on the layer to be the outline.  No matter what I do its 3" when i send it to signcut.

highlight the "stroke outline" that you made, go up to "path" chose stroke to path. After that, go back into path (make sure the outline is still highlighted) and choose break apart. Now it may be easier to change the view to outline so you can see that your pullin the pieces out that you dont want. Thats under "view" > display mode> outline, incase you didnt know. Then when youre all finished, just "combine" the rest of the outline.
