Recommended Posts

What type of blade(degree cut) would you use for t shirt vinyl?  What side do you cut, the shiny or dull side?  to cut you use mirror right?

Thanks

You use a standard blade (45 degree), you cut with dull side up and yes you cut it in mirror image.

Hello,

Ok here are the rules.

I will assume that you are using SignBlazer.

Rule 1.

Always cut the dull side never the shiny side.

Rule 2.

In SignBlazer click on mirror in the cutter menu.

Rule 3

Just use a normal blade.

The stuff is expensive so always so a test cut with normal vinyl first.

Weed it and if it looks OK then use the real stuff.

Tweezers are a good investment for weeding this stuff.

About T Shirt heat transfer vinyl.

Although there are many brands of this stuff there are actually only three manufacturers.

There is a US based one and two others from Asia.

The US one is thick and needs a blade with a 60 degree blade with a high offset such as 0.75.

The Asian manufactured ones are the preferred brands in most places of the world.

And the most popular brands.

Why?

They are much thinner and more flexible after being applied.

And you use your NORMAL blade to cut it.

Hope this helps

Hi , hope this isnt too far off topic ;D , i was impressed at the T-shirt vinyl at the Atlantic City sign show & got a heat press that does Hats , T-shirts , mugs & plates from e-bay . Seems there are inkjet quality decals pre-made available CHEAP . i will get some T-shirt vinyl to do my own logos most likely ( might be cheaper to have the big guys custom make them for me  ) . Now the actual question , What type decals should i get ? i know the silkscreen stuff doesnt last well , is there an easy way to determine what decals are made of ? the suppliers shy away from a direct answer so-far .

thanks , Rodger Myers    :snow:
