tracing and editing nodes question.

I have a 3 color image with a black outline.

After tracing and some node editing I have it looking quite good but I would like the black outline to be a complete layer behind the image.

as it is now the separate colors are "cut through".

Does this make sense?

Try removing the black outline then putting a solid outline on it using the contour in draw.  If you want to post the file someone can take a look at it for you to be sure that is what you are wanting.

Thanks. I got it, however I diddn't use the outline as you suggested. wish I had read that first

I ended up drawing the entire image from scratch and it looks MUCH better than editing AFTER autotrace.

Much more fun to.

It really depends on what you have to work when deciding what tool will work best.  Contour is one of my favorite tools, but I would have to see what you have to figure out what to do with it.
