Thinking about a copam,but.....

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, I have followed the forum for awhile now. a little background...I worked for a sign shop years ago. for the past 14years i have been doing cnc programing and machining.

I own a large import automotive forum. I usually have others make stickers and shirts but for the past 5 years i keep asking why? Why dont I just do this myself and if all goes well-for others too.

so here is my question....do I

a) buy a copam and see where it takes me? maybe buy a heatpress as well.

;D save a few more weeks and buy a ce5000-60,eventually get a heat press and something to print with?

If the copam did contour cutting i would have bought it long ago. I also consider graphtec craft robo pro but think 14.7" cutting area may limit me quick.

I have searched and searched the net for things cut with copam/videos/reviews/anything and find suprisingly little.I just wish i could find a little more feedback on it. I dont like spending money twice.

any suggestions or thoughts is greatly appreciated

personally  I would save and go with the  bigger. Graphtec  I have the 30"  and just love it.  I have had a starter machine before and still have it,  but for great tracking , smooth cuts, and a real quiet smooth machine. and no problems and a great warranty,  you can't beat the Graphtecs. just my 2c

I agree with Speed, especially since you are looking for contour cutting. The Copam is a great machine, but the Graphtec is better.

or buy the copam/heatpress now and then with the money you make buy the graphtec.  I have worked up from Pcut to refine to copam to graphtec.  each one paid for the others

This is along the lines of what i am thinking now.....The copam/sunie heat press or even used stahls is still less money than the graphtec alone. The Graphtec has contour cutting BUT, it would be atleast 6 months before i could buy a printer so that i could take advantage of contour cutting. Im talking myself into going with a copam/heatpress for now.

im thinking get the 24" for now(after/when/if I can sell enough Ill buy a larger graphtec. I ran one years ago and loved it)

heat press,prob look around for a 16x20

vinyl (651 basic colors,some easyweed,some flock)

flexi starter

My website has a logo that other sign shops(small online shops) have been stealing and selling for years and it drives me to my wits end. We created the logo in the late 90's and it has become a international symbol for people into import cars. Some of the people who have stole my design tried to argue that it is a "universal symbol". well, it is and it represents our website and we created it. So, I have decided I will start making the stickers myself and i guess my first order of business is to trademark my logo. Never thought id have to do that since everyone knows who and what the symbol represents when they see it. But, some people will do anything to make a buck I suppose.

sorry for the off topic rant! just really frustrating that others make money off what we have been known to give away free. =/

thanks for the responses, I have enjoyed coming to this board. I have no clue why i didnt register sooner.
