fill me in on details

So, Im thinking of selling my pcut 6250, and getting a countour cut w/ laser.  I have a few questions tho.

1.  I want to print onto vinyl and countour cut, do I need special vinyl to print onto?  I tried sending a peice of vinyl through my printer and the ink just smears to the touch after 20 min.

2.  How hard is it to set up the laser contour cutter?

3.  would you say you were glad you got this cutter, or do you wish you got a diff. cutter?  If so, which and why?

Thanks.

There is special vinyl you need to print with an ordinary inkjet printer.  http://www.papilio.com/ is one source and I believe MacTac makes their own brand as well.  I have read on these forums that if cover it with a layer of transparent vinyl, it's potential outdoor lifespan could be a long time.  I'm not sure how true that is though.

I've never used the laser contour portion of my cutter.  Back when I got it, I was into t-shirts and pressing shirts.  It was after I got it that I saw the potential to focus on vinyl instead of shirts.

Being a noob, I am happy I got this cutter.  it's great to learn with, inexpensive and is nice for doing what I am doing.  I am hoping to upgrade by early next year into something more professional grade however.

There are digital printers that can print onto rolls of vinyl for creating banners, stickers, auto wraps, etc.  These are pretty pricey though.  One day i will have one though.

Hello,

You cant print onto vinyl with an inkjet printer unless you get a special vinyl designed for that . A previous poster is correct that papilio.com sells an inkjet printable vinyl. I have used it an love it. Its great for making custom bumper stickers or whatever else you want to . They recommend you either cover it with a transparent layer of very thin vinyl or spray coat it to lengthen its outdoor life. They also have chrome, gold, holographic and silver material you can print all colors on with inkjet printer. They are just amazing and I use these to label the products I sell online. Unless you purchase this type of vinyl you wont be able to print an image that will last on regular sticker vinyl. Further Papilio sells 1 sheet samples of all these types of inkjet printable material!. So you can give all these a try without having to make a huge investment! They also sell the transparent vinyl covers and the spray as well. I use the spray and it works great.

Here are some links for you

You got to hunt and peck around but you can find all of these in 1 sheet sample packs .

Good Luck
