    US Cutter Laserpoint 24

I personally use usb (no serial port) I am not sure what you all define as large . but I cust a 15inch wide by 15 foot long piece of tshirt vinyl with about 40 differnet images for a flag football team. Doing all of this with usb port and had no problems. I am not sure if that qualifies as large but it seemed pretty big to me. They also sell serial port pci cards for your computer if you dont have a serial port or need another one. Pretty cheap at computer store these days. Good luck

THIS PIECE OF CRAP DOESNT JOG EVER!

Hey dont freak out. I was saying and feeling the same way when I first tried to cut a print. For me it wouldnt jog either. i realized that my cutter set up vinyl size was too small and it wouldnt jog because it was outside the work area. And if the design is selected (resize bars around it) when you go to cut a print it also will do this. After my first day with my LP I almost opened a support ticket too until I got that hang of it. Well made machines ! and most likely there is nothing wrong with yours. The best thing is, this great forum is here to help you through to solve your issues. I will be keeping an eye on this thread in case you need further assistance. Good luck and post up of you are still having trouble. Sheister
  5. Ok I will give that a try but I think I have tried that before. I may post a vid of what goes down.

Apply vinyl without a heat press?

Yeah I am wearing a shirt I made 4 months ago with thermoflex vinyl and an iron. Thermoflex may be more iron friendly than other vinyl. I even saw one website that was selling thermoflex in their "iron on" catagory. I cant speak for other types of vinyl though. And I am sure a heatpress is better in the long run though. Congrats on that sweet deal on that hotronix.

Apply vinyl without a heat press?

Yeah the MONKEY PRESS. HA it seems to be a sound idea and probably works ok. But the area 10x12 was too small plus its 100.00. I may get a sunie when I can.

    Soon to have Heatpress

Yes I can vouch for that . Jet pro has the best combination of durability and hand on the shirt. Its available at newmilfordphoto.com. Maybe at other places as well.

My first Tee Shirt ever !!

Question, are those tshirt transfers? Plastisol, dye sub, or just regular transfers. They look so natural on the shirts it looks like screen print. Ha! another Floridian here! I have been to Punta Gorda a couple of times.

Apply vinyl without a heat press?

Sorry guys but I am going to have to offer my perspective on this. First, I am a proponent of using a heat press for heat press clothing vinyl. However my orders for this are very limited and so far haven't justified the purchase of a heat press to date. I use thermoflex vinyl and apply with an iron and so far I haven't had any problems. Now before all of you get ready to reply that my customers may have not responded with issues let me say this. I have made several shirts for myself using just thermoflex and an iron. I have put these shirts through the wash and dryer multiple times and still no issues. Now I am sure a heat press will have longer lasting results, I am not sure if the difference is appreciable between the two. What I mean is, a shirt properly and carefully applied with an iron may last 1-2 years vs a shirt made with a heat press may last 3-4 years. Is that difference within an acceptable level of performance. In my opinion it is. However there are definitely some downsides to using an iron. Its tedious and requires very careful inspection to insure the vinyl has fully bonded to the shirt. Its more physical due to the continuous back and forth movement with pressure required. Repeated ironing over to correct parts that didn't fully bond. Finally just knowing you didn't use a heat press is a concern as to whether or not it will last. So far it has worked for me. I do intend to purchase a heat press when the demand justifies it. So to answer the thread question. No you don't "need" a heat press. But if you have access to one its definitely preferred. An iron should be a last or most practical option for somebody who doesnt already have a heat press. I just happen to be one of those people. Finally this method has only worked for me with thermoflex vinyl. It may not work at all with other brands of tshirt vinyl.

    epson 1400??

Yeah thats the same model I have . And I love it! Inks are great, cartridges automatically reset, not too hard to install. But if your not mechanically inclined get some help. Price was cheaper when I bought mine but for 99.99 its still well worth it. Kit included enough ink for 10 cartridge refills!!! Its so rare that something that makes big claims on ebay actually live up to them. But this is one of those rare occasions where this product does.
  15. I like to charge per sq inch here. .15 cents is a pretty fair price. What needs to be factored is a small/tiny letter charge for those ppl who want a 1in x 5in text sticker with 1/2 inch tall text. This would be a very cheap sticker if I only charged .15 /sq in. And this takes me longer and is more of a head ache to weed than the same sticker but 5 in x 10 in. Or the other idea is a minimum pricing so, the cust can have a sticker of any price but the minimum price is X. then just figure out a fair price that translates well to your smaller requests and then transitions well to your normal price per sq inch once the size exceeds the minimum pricing. Something like that. I am sure other places are doing this. Lets brainstorm whaddya say?
