I was putting a name on a boat yesterday and had to run home and grab something before finishing.  I had the surface prepped, but still gave it another once-over of my home-made app fluid / cleaner and just got the vinyl off the backing and half-way down when the owner walks up and tells me that he put a fresh coat of wax in it while I was away.

Needless to say, the vinyl pulled right back off and I had to recut and re-apply.    It's a really good thing they guy is a good friend of mine, because now I get to harass him about that every now and then.

Yep, only charged him for the materials on this one.  The extra cut was free, since he's giving me tons of word-of-mouth advertising around the harbor.

maybe you should tell him to mention to other boat owners not to wax their boats for you!
