Blade holder will Suddenly drop and for no reason, And other odd things.

Recommended Posts

:o I have a couple intermittent problems. First when I am just feeding the vinyl back and forward to check the tracking sometime  the machine just resets, it will do this pretty consistently after it does it the first time. Today Using flexi 7.6 when I did the show me option it started tracing the square to show me where it would cut and about halfway on the first side of the square it dropped the blade and started to cut. I have used this option many times before and it hasn't done this. Also sometime just sitting in the default position the blade drops down on the cutting strip. The machine is actually pushing the blade down because if you gently try to push up on the holder you can feel it pushing down. It doesn't hum or anything its just like it's stuck in the down position, the reset doesn't fix it either, But if you turn the whole thing off then on it will fix it most of the time. It works fine so far if I get it to stay up. I haven't had it ruin any jobs thankfully so far. Also just today when the blade dropped while doing the show me thing the screen when blank. I turned it off then on and it was ok, But while I was cutting my job the screen went blank as well. I don't know if I am the only one with this problem. So far it hasn't cost me any money but I can see how if it does this at the wrong time it could and it's pretty darn annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm Using a MH721 with Flexi 7.6 and windows XP

the cutter is connected through the serial cable I couldn't get the parrallel to work and didn't want to bother with the usb emulation.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you've got a loose connection somewhere in the motherboard. The way the shippers throw boxes around ,sometimes it jars a connection loose.I would email marcel,or call them in the morning.I would tell you to take the side off and check it,but I don't know if you're in warranty or not.But with the screen going balnk and the commands kicking in and out I'd say something is loose.

I agree with Billy it sounds like you might have a loose connection. Go ahead and take the side panel off where the motherboard is and check the connections. It will not void the warranty, just make sure you take the proper steps to ground yourself out, and preferably use an ESD wristband. You can see more details about that in this post. http://uscutter.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=2&topic=46.0

Also make sure you are using the correct driver for Flexi which is the Roland PNC 1000. If you have another serial port on your computer you might try connecting with that. Ideally you want to get the parallel or usb port to work to see if you still have the same problem. The USB cable won't completely isolate the connection since its still using a serial emulator, but it would tell you if there is a problem with the serial cable or communications over that port. Just call or email us with the results and we can go from there. If you want to set up the USB and need help we can walk through that too.
