MH 721 and Sign Blazer Stopped Working

I have been using my MH 721 for a few months and SignBlazer has been getting more and more difficult.  Today it stopped working completely.  I am using a Windows XP machine on a USB connection. 

I ended up uninstalling SignBlazer and reinstalling. 

I installed the drivers for the MH 721 with the usb cable unplugged.  When i plugged in the usb cable, windows detected the driver and then installed it.  I followed the instructions, where i found the usb to serial on COM6.  I configured the plotter to this and am unable to get signblazer to communicate with the MH 721. 

I am now really confused as to what the problem can be. 

Any Suggestions?

Ok, i solved the mystery.

I changed the Serial USB to COM 2, rebooted XP, then changed it back to COM6, rebooted, and now it works.

I am not sure why it did not work the first time but lesson learned by me.

USB is certainly a finiky animal.
