Home-made rack placed in my closet for 50 yard rolls of 24" vinyl. I super-simplified other DIY projects. I just used two 2x2 posts 26" apart, slightly longer than the height of the closet shelf so they sit at an angle on the ground, and placed bolts every 6 inches. I cut 3/4" electrical conduit into 30" lengths for the rolls to rest on. The "rack" is bolted up top to the closet ledger board, but just rests on the ground. For ease of identification/reordering, I used little gator clips from Ikea on the left bolts so I can cut out the vinyl color name/number labels from the shipping boxes and hang them next to the rolls. A shoe organizer hanging on the right gives me more supply storage (for masking tape, extra squeegees, etc.). Holds ten 50 yard rolls (11 rolls if the closet shelf supports weren't in the way). -
All this talk of computers dying, ransom-ware and storm damaged equipment has got me paranoid! What I want is a program that will back-up all my files on the computer AND attached storage drives... Continual back-up would be nice but, 2 to 4 times a day would be okay too. Then, maybe once a week save a back-up of the back-up. I would back-up everything locally to a 3-4 TB drive and feel fairly safe. I use Carbonite already and it stores the computer hard drive files in the cloud....separate connected storage drives are not copied. I store a ton of files on connected USB Storage drives that are from not very active customers. I want some redundancy to make me feel safer. Any recommendations? Thanks! Sue2

A second rack I made for 10 yard rolls. The same setup as my 50 yard rack, but the bolts are spaced every 4 inches instead of 6 inches. Clips on the left bolts hold the reorder name/numbers for the different vinyl colors. Holds sixteen 10 yard rolls. -

End-of-roll pieces and larger square/rectangle pieces stored under the cutter. -

Detail of the clips I use to make sure I know which vinyl roll is which. Also simplifies reorder. -
I have been tossing around the idea of building a cart, on casters that would allow me to roll my vinyl supplies into and out of my truck and into and out of craft shows etc, and move around easily.... POSSIBLY, with a work surface on top..... THAT being said, I have always wondered- I have seen folks store rolls laying down in tubes or cubbies, hanging on stems sticking our or running paralell to a wall- and some standing on end just as in a box. Vinyl is shipped in boxes with deals that prevent rolls from collapsing etc- My question is- What is the best way to properly store rolls to prevent collapse, keep the material from mottling/scuffing/scratches etc, and also ease of access/possibly portability? Right now mine is all in boxes and it makes it really difficult to move around
