USC has the best prices I have found . I buy Oracal 651 from them . $9 shippping on all material orders & most all equipment ( some LARGE stuff costs more ) . Only time I buy elsewhere is when buying 3" etc rolls for 1 line of text ... or if I don't plan ahead & run out of something & need it that day .

Strange cut on CE6000-60
Rodger replied to toddlamp's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
IMO it seems logical that the bottom of the blade holder touching the vinyl ( & with how much pressure ) has a big effect on how to set the pressure . If not , the blade could stick out 1/4" if the pressure against the backing paper was the only consideration in pressure . Ken Imes handled all of USC's business when I bought my cutters . He is VERY knowledgable & cut vinyl also . I know some sales people might not actually cut vinyl enough to become what I call experienced . From my memory ( since I am too lazy to search for the actual posts ) Ken posted many times to use something like 200 or above grams of pressure . The blade IMO should only be far enough out to barely go thru the vinyl no matter how much pressure . From my memory again , John said he has rub marks on his vinyl also ( I get rub marks on white vinyl ) . I reduced the blade exposure several times over a couple years . I was adjusting pressure mainly on the pressure against the backing paper & it was VERY inconsistant . The difference in pressure does not effect my cutting much unless I have too much blade exposed . grams of pressure is not much actuial weight/force with what i deal with . I think adjusting more pressure mainly helps to cut with a new part of the blade . -
WARNING TO EVERYONE!!!!
Rodger replied to laras4labs's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
OMG .. the thread that won't die as 1 member called it !!! This post has me cracking up . plus several other member's posting in reaction to Nuke ... he was ALWAYS consistant on being a grammer cop -
There are legal companies that go after copyrighted stuff on a commision it seems . 1 member had a person specifically ask for a De-Walk sticker & to have an itemized bill . A 95 cent decal cost Lara4labs at least $1K lawyer retainer . A VERY long thread in here about it ... it did have several tangents ( if you want to read it , search for De-Walt , Lara4labs ... it is 17 + pages from memory )

Dislikes & any work-a-rounds to any Dislikes , also any wished features Wish # 1 ; text editing feature as in SB . I tried to space the text with Cole casual & could not .
-
There is a " distort " feature in SignBlazer that might be close enough to use . but it changes the bottom of the letters some . Each & every letter could be manually adjusted , even if doing node edit editing .

No , but see if they take credit cards . Since any dispute started thru a credit card favors the buyer big time , many scammers don't use them . probably can't get verified either . You may be able to ask your credit card company for advice . An old adage comes to mind " Fools rush in , where wise men dare to tread " . I am assuming those prices are pennies on the dollar as far as value ??

Sir Cuts alot and us cutter comunication problems
Rodger replied to supergirl's topic in Sure Cuts A Lot Pro
Is that Sir Mix Alot's brother ?? Baby Got Back !!! -
You are welcome . This forum is great , with very few exceptions . Ken Imes set & kept the standard years ago ( was the face of USC on the phones & this forum until He & USC went seperate ways ) BannerJohn aka John ( non USC emplyee ) has kept it that way ever since he was put in control of this forum . There are 2 faced , backstabbing members around & some snarky rude members but like I said John keeps them reigned in . To me , this forum is like the bar in " Cheers "

In the cut window , make sure the CUT MODE setting is " origin " instead of WYSIWYG .

I am going to start 2 threads in the SCALPro section ... Likes & Dislikes . I hope anybody knowing a work-a-round to any dislike will post any work-a-rounds they know . Post wishes in the Dislike thread in hopes the developers will read & act . I think short & simple posts will have a better chance of getting read by Edge Craft people . Like #1 ; Weed Line options is 2nd to none . add weed lines anywhere horizontally & vertically & as many as you want AAA+ Like #2 : I really like how easy it is to add fonts into SCALPro & into my personal favorite list A+

To alot of people , they prefer the 57 , I like the 55 better . I really don't think either 1 is that great . I think 1955 was a big year for Chevy as they started making the small block V-8 ( 265 cid ) . That evolved into the 350 cid & it has been the most popular engine ever IMO . Many awesome engines ... 426 Hemi , SOHC 427 Ford , Boss 429 & 302 , but WAY more small block Chevys in race cars & Hot Rods than all the others combined .

YouTube capture for iOS/ iPhone, iPad
Rodger replied to MadHatterGraphix's topic in Off Topic Section
Thanks for the info on the phone app , but I'll never use that . This is my 1 & only YouTube attempt . My 4 year old grand-daughter back on my dirt bike track . I used to be pretty competitive with my brother-in-law & his kids vs my kids ... now it is gonna be my grand-daughter vs his grand-son . -
It was a fun song , I remember my wife & me singing the chorus crackinig up . I am a 1955 model ... good year for Chevys also

I have never done rhinestones ( Glen Campbill starts playing in my head ) , but I have clicked on that option in SCALPro . Seems SUPER VERY easy . Is that what you are calling " make your own templates " ??

I think doing the most with the least is best . If the cheap software does everything you want , why spend all the extra loot ? I have not heard a good answer to that . I like to design & cut in the same program. I have never tried AI .

Quick way to create a 2 color gradient effect?
Rodger replied to motoxchic's topic in Adobe Illustrator
With 2 colors of vinyl , the transition would be abrupt . You can gradient it as much as you want to . Just have to use many more colors/shades or spray paint/air brush . I have not done it , but seen a buddy that does that with paint alot . WAY more trouble than it is worth IMO . edit ; After looking at the SCP pic you linked . Seems all you would have to do is make a decal & add a cut line at the middle . Make another decal of the other color & do the same . use the top from 1 & the bottom from the other . Probably an easier way , but that is what I would do if I wanted to make what you describe . -
Buy SCALPro from a USC e-bay auction for $99 , It makes any file into a rhinestone file . So easy even Bear , me or a cave-man can do it . Look on Edge Crafts website for the tutorial that shows how easy it is .

I have always used the offset on the blade package ( .25 mm ) & never needed to adjust . As you go up in pressure , lessen blade exposure if cutting the backing paper . The wavey lines could be the actual node path , or how stepper motored cutters cut with some decals . I usually have to look close to find anything like that cutting with my stepper motored Copams . Some files with a low number of nodes & long cuts in between shows the stepper's inferiority more . Only another vinyl cutter would ever catch any of that IMO . Anybody being that critical usually is having it hand painted anyway . Cut vinyl , printed vinyl is a distant second to painted stuff . Price is what is great about vinyl

Yes , that is what a design & cut software does . Reading thru this forum is a great idea for anybody without alot of experience . It is a great idea for people with alot of experience if they are not opinionated into their way is the best . I have been cutting vinyl part time for 5+ years & I search & read sometimes . I have learned from OLD threads/posts . SCALPro is best to start out with , It has support even though it is new to most of this forum . SignBlazer has MANY more features that will benifit you as you learn & can do more . SCALPro might keep adding features & grow into a very " powerfull " software ( I hope so ) . SignBlazer has not been supported since the owner died & the company did not keep up with it's forum etc . There is development still going on with software evolved from SignBlazer . It may get released eventually & grow into where it was going ( I hope so ) . I would consider each software a different " tool " that has it's own advanatages . IF you have Flexi Pro , nothing else is needed it seems . Cost prohibitive though

Most of the time , no contact info at all . When contact info is available , they may on the other side of the country . Using a credit card is always best. Credit card company favors the customer hands down . All anybody has to do is start a " dispute " & the money is frozen & I have never heard os a customer lossing . Bad for legit business owners as it is a easy way to scam for low integrity customers .

Watcha posting on YouTube ?? -
Whatever 1 you like best . Try them both . I use both of them . Each has specific things I like more than the other . Best low cost design/cut softwares available .

When adjusting the blade by hand method .. I make sure I am putting alot of pressure when cutting . If I come across the diiscussion about what pressure that should be used , I'll post it . Seems Ken Imes went over that many times . I think he said start at 200 & go up ,. not down . 200 grams of pressure is not very heavy
