    Test cuts

I just finished a round of maintenance on my plotter and I am looking for some possible things to test for cutting accuracyl. Only thing I can think of is a line of text maybe some shapes besides that what else can I do to ensure everything is tracking right?

    What not to use

I have been reading about what to get and look for in a press. My question is, are there any brands to to stay away from? Any features they use to sell a press that are junk and should be ignored? My budget is around $400 and I see tons of units that I could buy. I need to know what are the trusted brands to buy from.

    Busy busy

I was sent a photo of a business card and told they want it recreated and installed on his van. So far here is the mock up. Not 100% but it's coming along nicely. I personally am not a fan of the wording, but they get what they want.

In the middle of the mall

408 square feet. In the middle of a mall in New Hampshire. Installed in under 3 hours. Nothing like having your logo front and center on a cows ass with the tag line "Try to beat our meat". It s for a restaurant. Love installing on inside corners.

    Windows

13' tall. All in all about 450 square feet. Second surface, wet install. The best part is that it's only up temporarily while they remodel the inside of the store.

    Just another day at work

I am a limo driver on the side. I drummed up some work. Boss liked this so much that he wants one for the back door. More pics to come.

Were the colors printed, or cut vinyl? Looks great, just curios.

    Just another day at work

Still working out the pricing mainly because this was part of a larger project I have set up with the owner. I'm making new D.O.T numbers up for the limos, other doors are getting lettered, possible more artwork for the side windows, t shirts made up, making new name placards for all the drivers to hold at the airport, the works. Since I had a bunch of screen time to redraw the image to get it into a vector needs to be added into the price. If I had to throw a number at it for just this once piece wihout any real design work, I would quote him $ 40 cut, cleaned and installed. It's only 3.5 square feet.

    Just another day at work

I didn't do the initial design but did have fun getting it to vector correctly. Had to redraw it for the most part. But yeah, I added in the limo and the actual border to the image. I thought it tied everything together and was a play on words with it being border limo. He wants it on a magnet for the cars for when they are parked at events, polo's, back door lettering and a large lit sign lettered.

The reviews for it are terrible. I am willing to take your advice and certainly understand whatever choice I make is mine to make alone.

    Rapid tac alternative

I will be doing.a second surface window graphic install. So what ever solution I use need to be invisible between the glass and the graphic.

    Rapid tac alternative

I typically like to do my installs dry but do use some wet wet methods in a pinch. I need an alternative to rapid tac due to the price. I have heard of guys using water with s couple drops of detergent to give it the slip. I have never used this method. Do I need distilled water, what kind of soap child I use? Something mild like johnsons baby soap? What's a good reliable ratio that I can mix up on the spot? Any help would be great. Obi-wan forum, you're my only hope.

    Wall decal - inside corners

It all depends on how much the graphic costs. That $20 knife may save a $500 graphic install. It's pricey up front, sure, but the peace of mind it can give you once you know how good of a tool it is will justify the cost.

    Wall decal - inside corners

My preference is hang them vertically. And with the side corner I suggest a specialty knife that runs about 20 bucks typically called a back cutter knife. It has a Teflon guard on in. It essentially let's you cut the backing paper without cutting the vinyl layer. I swear by them. Cut the backing along the line where the crease would be if you folded into the corner. Assuming if you are going left to right then apply the left side normally then remove the backing on the right side. Depending on the overall height I suggest getting a buddy to help hold out the material so it doesn't stick to itself while you apply.
  24. I have made banners with 651 just fine but I got an order for a printed banner. What's a reasonable mark up for sale. They are supplying the artwork ready to print. I just need to place the order for them. Not even installing it. They are hanging it up in their garage. Any help would be nice.
