  1. Hello all... yet... again..

With another dumb question that I actually found the answer too this time but does not make sense or in other words, is incorrect I guess you can say.

So my question is... where to place the pinch rollers so the vinyl wont shift as much.
Its not really an issue when doing smaller vinyls about 24" or so wide but more of the long wise where the vinyl moves a lot, the vinyl seems to shift a little.

I knew about pinch rollers when I got the cutter from reading on the manual but they didn't work or at least, the instructions are not very detailed and seems to be missing a bit of information on how to place them correctly.

This is from the Manual PDF

So this is not how I have had it all this time. My rollers have been on the errr... kernal rollers (under the white marks) I think they are called (bottom, controlled rollers) and it works great but when following the instructions, the vinyl cant move. Just doesnt grab and if you put the pinch rollers too close to the kernal rollers (The name of them for this post) then it will just bind and basically ruin the vinyl. A guy on another forum that posted before said that you have two pinch rollers on the kernal rollers and one pinch roller offset but that also wrinkled and binded the vinyl whether I put it on the open plane or near a kernal roller...

So my question is... where do you place them correctly?

Again, this is something that only becomes an issue when doing long decals or close to the edge decals. Otherwise, not an issue.

As always, thank you in advance and again, sorry for these dumb questions!

  2. Cleaned up my font folder thinking I had it backed up and it ended up that I didnt.
I am pretty sure it is one of the many fonts that come with Adobe CS6 but I dont want to reinstall Photoshop/Illustrator so thought I would ask here.

The y is modified so I wouldn't expect much off it but the rest isnt.

    Thank you in advance!

  3. So.. I don't want to post another thread for this simple question I have about the cutter but since I couldnt exactly find what I was looking for, I guess I will ask in this thread.

I don't have a stand for my cutter. It is currently sitting on a table which I enjoy because below it, I can put tools and all for weeding, etc into. But because the vinyl is in rolls and is not below the cutter, how do I make sure it is aligned with the cutter when doing large cuts or many cuts? The tutorials only show with a cutter and to align the vinyl on the backside measuring marks to the front side, however, when on the table, it is kind of hard to do so without kinking thicker vinyl?

Everytime I search for the answer, all I find is how to do it with a stand and not without. Sorry all.

  4. I have the Laserpointer II and have yet to have any issues. However, I do not have a stand and I wish it was a 32" instead of a 24" (future purchase I guess). Other than that, I haven't had any noticeable issues. Currently using it with USB as well (Keyspan got lost in a move and too broke to buy another). Im sure others will have more promising suggestions since I haven't used mine for very long and am still trying to learn stuff with mine.

    Best of luck!

  5. I don't use the clear tape.  I always use paper transfer tape.,, But you should squeegee the top of the decal  real good,  turn the decal over and peel the backing away from the decal.. Much easier.  You should not be lifting the decal from the backing,,You will actually lift the paper from the backing doing that,  Then you will have paper stuck to your decal.  Always peel the backing away from the decal.

I appreciate the tip. Trying it that way, it did a bit better. I use hard plastic squeegies (came with starter kit I think) and push down pretty hard to try and get all the bubbles out. I usually use paper transfer tape but have been trying to switch over to clear because the majority of people I give the stickers too prefer to be able to see the designs and where they are placing them on their car.

    I really appreciate it!

  6. ^ Thanks.

Anyone know about the issue with the transfer tape though? Seems to be my biggest issue.

Also, I just noticed I posted this in the wrong section and I apologize. Thought I was posting in the General Help section. If someone could please move this thread there, would be awesome!

    Sorry!

  7. Hello all!

Sorry to bother again but was unable to find the answers I was looking for when searching.

I have glitter vinyl that I bought online. Same seller that my friend buys from and uses.

The machine I have is a US Cutters Laserpoint 2 24" (i think). 45 degree blade at 112pressure and 400 speed (some intricate stuff in the designs).

1.So my first question is does anyone notice glitter vinyl being more difficult to weed than normal calendar vinyl or is it just me being new?

    2. When weeding, some of the decals are easy to weed while others seem like the blade didnt cut all the way through. Is this caused by maybe too much pressure, causing friction heat on the blade holder and making the vinyl thin out instead of cutting correctly?

    3. The clear transfer tape I have is Greenstar High tack but the issue I am running into is that it is not grabbing the vinyl, even the small stuff. Its about a 75% chance it wont grab at all and 25% chance that it will grab some of it. Is there a difference of types of clear high tack transfer tapes that I need to use?

Sorry if this are nooby questions but I do happy to be new and am using stuff that I got with the machine (except for glitter vinyl, thats new.). I did search but did not find the answers I was looking for. As far as blade depth etc, I always ALWAYS cut a square piece of the vinyl that I am about to cut and adjust the blade depth as tutorials have suggested. The first few decals pull easily but as I get to the ones that were later cut in the process, it seems to get more and more difficult. Maybe just me?

    Thank you in advance!

  8. From experience of doing designs and templates of automotive stuff, what has worked the most is using tape. Tape the item with roughly 2 layer of tape (just going over it twice) and then using a razor blade, cut where the ends would be if you were to make a template. Then flatten and scan the result. Difficult to explain in text and when I get back home next week, I will try and make a tutorial video. I hope this helps in the meantime. Something to try too.

  9. Interesting that this is an issue. I have yet to get any complaints relating to this issue but everytime I am done with stickers, I will cut one of the edges on the back side to make it easier to peak for myself (and has become a habbit). Basically just a low pressure cut since its quick and usually does the job well enough. Similar to opening a packet of medicine where on the plastic, the other side of it has a corner that bends and is peelable.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Hello all.

Have been lurking around and thought I would post one of my.. err current favorite decal I made as a gift to my mother.

Her favorite Cartoon character is Gossamer from Bugs Bunney and the Abominal Snow Rabbit. She is also a cat fan and currently has two cats that are black.
One named Dexter and the other is named Zen. I am not the creative type. I lack creativity when it comes to drawing or designing as I can see it in my mind but for some reason, I cannot make it on paper, illustrator, etc etc.

Anyhow, this is what I made for her:

    33bll6s.jpg

The overlay aquired a few bubbles but they should come out when it gets put somewhere. The words were a pain. Took me roughly 3 or 4 hours to weed out the wording just because of how small they are and that I am still new to all this so the cuts were not perfect. Still trying to figure out the perfect blade pressure and exposure.

Hope you guys like it as well.

  11. Hello,

Sorry that this is my first post and I also know that the title doesn't make much sense.

Basically, the issue is that I send to my printer to cut out some decals but once it finishes each one, it will cut three lines through the decals which causes them not to look great and also to be a pain when weaving.

The application I am using is Sure Cuts A Lot Pro 3. I am trying to cut through Vinyl but each time, no matter the size. It cuts these lines through the decal.

Additional Info - Using 45 degree blade with 0.25 offset. 400mm/s and 108g for pressure.

Checked over the designs that I tested with and in the program, it doesnt show any lines going through other than grid lines which go through different parts of the decals.

When weaving, it is enough to pull out but will pull some of the decal with it as well so assuming not far out enough blade by just a slight.

Not sure what other information may help.

Any advice that may resolve the issue possibly?

    Thank you in advance!
